2024 Travelers Championship Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, CT. Despite some chances for rain, the weather won’t play a huge role in scoring.

ComboPGAcomparison

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Travelers Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, June 20th

There are light early morning winds around 5 mph, building to 10 mph sustained with stronger gusts. A heat advisory is also in effect.

Friday, June 21st

The winds are even lighter on Friday, just 0-5 mph to start, climbing between 5-10 mph in the afternoon. Scattered storms are possible during the afternoon.

Saturday, June 22nd

There are light winds to start and 10 mph winds by the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms are possible.

Sunday, June 23rd

Same pattern as the other days. Lighter morning winds, manageable afternoon winds, scattered showers, and storms are possible.

Travelers Championship Weather Thoughts

The wind doesn’t ever look to be a major problem at the Travelers, whereas the rain could occasionally cause some delays. I have a very slight lean to a Thursday AM / Friday PM build, because you are avoiding the peak wind time frame of Thursday afternoon, but even that “peak” wind isn’t much to fret. I don’t think the weather will make or break your builds this week.
