Last weekend didn’t go as planned for my process, but we’re moving forward with more data at our disposal, which should lead to sharper decisions this week. The NFL landscape is in an odd place right now—Andy Dalton was the first QB of the season to throw for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns, followed by Joe Burrow, and players like Jauan Jennings and Dallas Goedert posted career-level production with over 170 yards receiving. That’s just how the NFL is sometimes, and we have another week to make some great plays.

Looking ahead to this weekend, we’ve got a high-scoring matchup on tap between the Commanders and Cardinals (50.5-point total) and plenty of strong plays in the early projections. There’s even an Andy Dalton revenge narrative brewing for the CIN/CAR matchup, which could push the Bengals into an unexpected 0-4 start

As the NFL season unfolds and more data comes in, our NFL projections are constantly improving. This is where our NFL DFS optimizer becomes a must-have because these adjustments help you make lineups. In LineupHQ, you can take advantage of these refined projections by building optimal lineups in just a few clicks—whether you’re stacking a few players or generating up to 300 lineups in minutes. With each passing week, our tools will help you stay ahead of the game to make smarter and more strategic decisions as new insights emerge. With this article, you can take my plays and then build lineups to see the best possibilities.

Last week, the Texans were overwhelmed by the Vikings’ defense, but this weekend presents a prime bounce-back opportunity after watching the Jaguars’ defensive struggles on Monday Night Football. The Jaguars continue to rely heavily on man coverage, even without their top cornerbacks, and they don’t have the talent or creativity in their scheme to compensate. C.J. Stroud has been thriving against man coverage, averaging 11.8 yards per pass attempt with a 75% completion rate this season. Nico Collins has been his go-to target in these situations, posting an incredible 4.20 yards per route run and a 40% target rate per route.

On the Jaguars’ side, Brian Thomas Jr. has been one of the top separators, according to Fantasy Points’ Average Separation Score metric, and the Texans’ defense has been vulnerable to vertical routes. Their defensive backs are playing aggressively, jumping on curl routes in an attempt to force turnovers and incompletions. This opens up the potential for the Jaguars to target Thomas Jr. deep, and in tournaments, chasing that upside makes sense.
