Using his experience as a former scout and staff member at Central Florida under Josh Heupel, Jordan Vanek takes an in-depth look at the upcoming NFL DFS main slate on DraftKings. Formerly of The 33rd Team and 4for4 Fantasy Football, Jordan will do a deep dive into the best ways to attack the wide receiver position to help you climb the leaderboards.

Looking back at Week 5, the Browns’ offense struggled to elevate Jayden Daniels’ performance, while Jordan Love had to deal with numerous drops from Dontayvion Wicks, which limited his potential. On the other hand, the Brian Thomas ceiling play was a huge success, and I’m repeating that idea this week in a similar matchup with the player Thomas replaced in Jacksonville. Last week’s value play, Jordan Whittington, also paid off, and this week I’m eyeing a more volatile value play that I believe will provide a much higher score.

This weekend features another relatively small slate with some high-scoring potential. The slate includes a 51.5-point total in a game featuring two of the most prolific running QBs, Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson, a possible under-the-radar shootout between Arizona and Green Bay, and a 52-point total in the DET/DAL matchup. I’ll be exploring value stacks to get pieces of these and other games, headlined by a rookie QB making his first start.

As more advanced data comes in, I’m able to provide deeper analysis and context for the slate. I love being able to offer insights behind the curtain here at RotoGrinders, but it’s even better when I can lean on the help of our projections team and our NFL DFS optimizer, LineupHQ. This tool is invaluable for finding the combos I want, and I’m constantly hitting refresh to stay on top of the latest ownership changes and projections.

Stacks

Kyler Murray ($6,800, QB, Arizona Cardinals)

Marvin Harrison Jr. ($7,200, WR, Arizona Cardinals)

Josh Jacobs ($6,700, RB, Green Bay Packers)

Early ownership projections in LineupHQ show Murray as a QB who will go under the radar, and I love his matchup. The Packers’ defense, which has struggled against mobile quarterbacks, often relies on single-high coverage and trusts their edge rushers to contain the QB—a strategy that worked against Jalen Hurts and Anthony Richardson—but Murray poses a different challenge. He’s more explosive as a runner than both of those QBs, and to contain him will be difficult. When the Packers have faced running QBs, their safeties have focused more on the QB’s running than his passing, making the defense vulnerable to big plays over the top because they don’t have great corners.

Harrison has been a consistent target for Murray, averaging 8 targets per game over the last 4 weeks, and while his production numbers haven’t fully caught up, he’s shown he can take advantage of mismatched secondaries, as he did against the Rams. The Rams were the last team to play a lot of Cover 3 against the Cardinals, and I think they see a lot of that in this matchup.

On the other side, the Cardinals have allowed over 150 yards rushing in 3 straight games, and we saw Jacobs return to his normal workhorse type of role against the Rams last week. He wasn’t very efficient, but I think the Cardinals are a much less talented run defense and that this is the week Jacobs has a big game.
