NFL Week 3 – Best Bets: Player Props

Travis Kelce u75.5 Receiving Yards (-125), PointsBet

Travis Kelce was targeted nine times last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars in his return to the field, but he managed only four receptions and 26 receiving yards. He was clearly playing at less than 100 percent following an injury suffered prior to the start of the season. According to Andy Reid, Kelce’s knee was “bothering him a little bit” during the game, which led to frustration on the sideline at one point during the contest. In total, Kelce was on the field for only 30 passing snaps, which is another sign that he was not fully healthy. Though he has logged a full practice each day this week, it is likely that he is still nowhere near full health going into Week 3. Making matters tougher, Kelce has a difficult matchup against linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who was one of the best coverage linebackers in the NFL in 2022. There are a lot of ways that the under could hit here, making it the smart way to approach Kelce this weekend.

Justin Herbert o25.5 Pass Completions (-114), FanDuel

In Week 1, the Minnesota Vikings’ defense ranked 27th out of 32 teams in pressure rate. In Week 2, the Vikings’ defense ranked 25th out of 32 teams in pressure rate. Last season, Justin Herbert had the 8th-highest completion percentage of any quarterback in the NFL from a clean pocket, but he ranked 37th out of 40 quarterbacks in average depth of target in such situations. Since the beginning of 2022, Herbert has had 25 completions or more in 14 of 20 games played and at least 26 pass completions in 11 of those contests. Herbert is consistently competitive at this market number, regardless of game script. In what should be a high-scoring affair against a defense that will struggle to generate pressure, this is a good way to invest in Herbert this weekend.

NFL DFS Pick’em

Andy Dalton More Than 213.5 Passing Yards, PrizePicks

In Week 1, the Seattle Seahawks ranked 29th out of 32 defenses in pressure rate. Last weekend, the Seahawks’ defense was once again worse than league average in this metric, ranking 18th in pressure rate. In those two games, Jarran Reed has been the team’s top pass rusher, generating six pressures and three quarterback hits. However, he was banged up during the week and did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. Though Reed looks like he will play this weekend, it is likely that he will not be completely healthy. Andy Dalton is far from an elite quarterback, but he ranked 11th in completion percentage and 12th in yards per attempt from a clean pocket last fall with the New Orleans Saints. This is a low market number, which he should be able to clear in a competitive game script this weekend against Seattle.
