NFL DFS Air Yards Report: Reviewing Week 6

Air Yards are a statistic we use in NFL DFS to identify the quality of a players opportunity. When we can find players who have greater opportunity than their recent production shows, we can often benefit in our lineup choices on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo!. In this article, we’ll open the RotoGrinders Usage App from JoshADHD and discover a few key air yards trends from recent weeks. We’ll look for players who have strong share of their team oppotunity, but production that lags behind. We should be able to make better projections and find high upside at lower than expected projected ownership if we identify these players properly.

Week 6 NFL DFS Air Yards Report

Terry McLaurin

Article Image

NFL Team: Washington Football Team
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 45.1%
Air Yards: 110
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.67

Terry McLaurin will be a popular DFS play in Week 7 against a terrible Cowboys defense, and rightfully so as the second-year receiver continues to dominate the market share of air yards for the Washington Football Team. McLaurin saw 110 air yards in Week 6 and his 45.1% market share was in line with his season average of 49%. There aren’t many receivers in the league seeing this much opportunity as consistently as McLaurin and he’s an absolute steal on DraftKings this week for $5,800.

DJ Chark

NFL Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 46.3%
Air Yards: 193
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.23

DJ Chark brushed off an ankle injury to lead the league with 193 air yards in Week 6. Despite Chark’s massive opportunity against the Lions, he disappointed in the box score, hauling in just 7-of-14 targets for 45 scoreless yards. As a result of his poor back-to-back performances, Chark’s price plummeted to $5,500 on DraftKings which would make him an absolute steal if he saw even 75% of the same opportunity he saw last week. I like Chark quite a bit as a low-owned tournament option.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

NFL Team: Green Bay Packers
Position: WR
Share of Team Air Yards: 44%
Air Yards: 131
Air Conversion (RACR): 0.24

The king of never cashing in his air yards for fantasy points, MVS once again lead the Packers with 131 air yards and a 44% market share of air yards in Week 6. MVS has shown that his probability of cashing in for a big game is very low on a weekly basis but I am likely to keep him in my Week 7 GPP player pool because he makes for a strong leverage option off the likely high-owned Davante Adams.
