2023 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Weather Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play this week, which is a unique 5-day event. With it being Match Play and having condensed tee times, weather may be difficult to take advantage of. But I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get a forecast in regardless, especially since we have some windy and potentially wet timeframes.

If you can find an edge, you might consider taking advantage of it on sites like No House Advantage, where you can use our No House Advantage promo code to get a $100 Instant Deposit Match.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps to soften and slow the course, meaning it helps as much as it hurts. With wind there’s no helpful side, it’s all negative impact, and the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the timeframe with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can use then use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Weather Report & Forecast

Day 1 Weather Projection – Wednesday, March 22nd

Breezy. We’ll see sustained winds around 15mph with gusts to 25mph. It should be a touch windier in the afternoon.

Day 2 Weather Projection – Thursday, March 23rd

Downright windy. We’ll be around 15-20mph sustained most of the day, climbing to around 20-25mph sustained by the afternoon, which will bring gusts to 35mph. There’s also a low (but not “no”) chance of an afternoon storm.

Day 3 Weather Projection – Friday, March 24th

Still breezy, but more manageable with 10-15mph winds. A few showers possible, especially early.

Day 4 Weather Projection – Saturday, March 25th

Probably the best weather of the entire tournament. 5-10mph winds.

Day 5 Weather Projection – Sunday, March 26th

Winds should pick up a touch on Sunday, but mostly we’re talking 10+ mph with stronger gusts and a chance for some showers. All in all pretty decent weather.

Overall WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Weather Forecast

As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. For this tournament, with the Match Play and condensed start times, it might be tough to find a usable edge. But I can say with fairly high confidence that, in general, Thursday brings the windiest weather, and Thursday afternoon will be worse than the morning (though neither timeframe is ideal).
