Michael Thomas vs. Eagles
I’m getting tired of writing up nice things about Michael Thomas and this Saints offense, and I’m going to just shift my focus to thrashing the defensive situation in Philadelphia. They are a massive pass funnel, with strong rankings in rush success rate allowed, explosive run prevention, rush DVOA, and fantasy points allowed to the RB position. Meanwhile in the secondary, they’ll start guys who couldn’t start over Jalen Mills. Mills was the nut-low PFF graded DB in 2016, and this season was on pace to give that feat a run yet again before he got hurt. Ronald Darby is out for the season. He was at least giving them a prayer. We’re looking at secondary that includes Corey Graham at safety (143 coverage snaps, 6/83/1 TD as a safety, 155.65 QB rating), Sidney Jones ( top of the delta pledge class with 10/96/1 on 13 catchable targets), Rasul Douglas (would rank 94/113 if he qualified in PFF grades), and Avonte Maddox (safety by trade covering the slot, with a PFF coverage rating well under 50). They are bad enough that they made the fraudulent Dak Prescott look good last week. It think that is plenty to establish that the Eagles secondary is worth attacking, and the Michael Thomas to Drew Brees connection is one of the most targeted (87) and most accurate (95.4% on target) in the NFL. There are very few reasons to bet against Thomas in week 11 other than a complete blowout scenario, which would be unlikely to occur without the assistance of Thomas himself.
