Yahoo NBA DFS Tournament Targets: Wednesday, January 29th

This article is my attempt to outline some of what I think will be chalk and my favorite tournament targets to consider for each slate. The article will start off pretty basic and light on analysis, as we don’t have much data to go off of, but will evolve as the season does. Feel free to comment, message me, and of course jump into contests with me on Yahoo.

Tonight we have a six-game slate with two teams (Knicks, Grizzlies) on the second half of a back-to-back. Below is a look at some of the players I’m considering as of this early afternoon.

Point Guard

PG: Elfrid Payton, New York Knicks, $22

Elf’s price is still a bit low for his role since clearly taking over the Knicks backcourt. Over his last seven games, he’s averaged 30 minutes and 32 fantasy points per game. During that stretch he’s also had at least 7 assists and 1 steal in every game, had 3 games with 2 blocks and averaged 5.6 rebounds. That’s what I like to see, someone who can fill up the stat sheet, though I do wish he was a little more aggressive on offense. He should benefit from tonight’s matchup with the Grizzlies ranked 5th in pace and an above average matchup for point guards and with both teams on the second half of a b2b there is the potential for a lack of defense, which is nice considering the Grizzlies rank 20th in defensive rating.
