That was called a “teaser.”
I’m sorry — I really am. But I hope you understand it was necessary.
You see, for these RotoAcademy courses, the first lesson is made available for free. This means the first lesson becomes — for purposes of converting “potential readers” to “actual readers” — sort of the equivalent of sales copy.
I write a lot of sales copy when I do freelance writing work, and maybe I sometimes get carried away in the intros to these courses to ensure “conversions.”
Then again, well, this is valuable information! If I have to use the first lesson as a “teaser,” so be it. If I have to perhaps even lie a little bit, so be it. After all, you purchased this course, right? I did my job in converting you from a “potential reader” to an “actual reader,” and now I’ll do my job further by packing so much valuable information into this course (hopefully without making it exhaustingly long!) that you finish it and say, “Really? That was all I had to pay for this course? Sheesh! I’m going to make so much money off this information — they really should have charged more.”
Oh, where did I lie? Sorry, I forgot that was how this whole digression began; yes, “teaser”; yes, “perhaps even lie a little bit.”
