NFL 2012-13: Player Matchup Notes Playoffs Conference Finals
See You Next Season!
Player Matchup Notes are here to take you beyond the numbers. Looking at season statistics is great, but sometimes they overlook certain scenarios that could have a major impact on performance. Here are some of the things we look for in this weekly column:
Player Matchup – Notes if a player is facing an extremely favorable or poor matchup (ex: WR vs. a Shutdown DB)
Injury/Suspension Notes – Players missing time of note for various reasons
Split Stats – Player does especially well or poorly in a scenario they are in this week (Turf, Snow, Home/Away, etc.)
Historic Stats – Player does especially well or poorly over time in a matchup they are in this week (Vs. Team, At Stadium, etc.)
Misc. – Other information or statistics that could be pertinent to a matchup
Ravens @ Patriots
- Ravens defeated Patriots 31-30 in week 3
- Torrey Smith with an emotional 6 catch 127 yard 2 TD game just 24 hours after his brother passed away
- Gronk injured and out for rest of playoffs
- Ray Lewis on his farewell tour, inspiring team
- Which Patriot RB do you trust this week?
- Brady had 335 yards passing vs Ravens Week 3
- Welker with 142 receiving yards, Lloyd with 108 receiving yards in week 3 match up
49ers @ Falcons
- CK7 went absolutely crazy last week showing off his huge upside
- Similar style QBs Russel Wilson and Cam Newton vs Falcons (3 total games), 262 rushing yards with 3 TDs, 887 passing yards with 6 TDs and only 1 INT
- Frank Gore vs a rush defense ranking 23rd this season, great match up
- Turner should have problems against Niners, Jacquizz Rodgers is better suited for this style of game
- Only 1 sack by 49ers on Rodgers last week, this is concerning
