Kevin Tway Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Kevin Tway is no longer in the field

In what has already been a busy Monday of player movement, Kevin Tway becomes the lastest player to opt-out of this week's 3M Open. Tway will be replaced in the field by Parker McLachlin.

Kevin Tway inks new equipment deal

Even though The Sony Open is actually the 14th event of the 2020 season, players use the downtime between the wrap around season and the start of the new year to implement equipment changes. Kevin Tway announced today that he has signed a multi-year deal with Wilson Golf. The deal calls for Tway to play irons and wedges. Hoping to have the same success that fellow Wilson staff member Gary Woodland had when making the switch last season, Tway will look to improve on year in which he missed making it to The Tour Championship by one spot. Equipment changes at this time of year are typically not something to be worried about, as players have plenty of time to tweak equipment to their liking.

Kevin Tway offers upside at a discount

Now a year removed from winning his first PGA Tour event Kevin Tway will look to make the most of his third appearance in The CJ Cup. Like many other players before him, Tway has struggled at times after winning his first event. Priced-down due to his less than stellar play over the last few months, someone of Tway's caliber stands out as a great place to attack in this no-cut format. If you are going stars and scrubs this week, then the long-hitting Tway is the type of play that can pay off his salary despite a top tier finish. With four scorable par-five holes in play this week, we want to attack players that have the length to take advantage of such opportunities. In his first two trips to this event, Tway has averaged 13 birdies per tournament. If we get a week where he throws in a few more birdies or even an eagle, then there is a strong chance that Tway will end up as one of the better point per dollar golfers.

Fifteen minutes to roster lock and no major news to report

There is no major news to report ahead of the first round. There is a chance that we have a weather bais draw that favors early Thursday and then late Friday. From a showdown slate perspective, you could take advantage of this potential draw by stacking some early wave golfers for both morning rounds. The combination of lower expected winds and better putting surfaces could lead to a stronger morning draw each day. Good luck this week. ResultsDB will be up and running within 15 minutes of roster lock. Make sure to check out how your lineups stack up against the field.

Weather update for The Safeway Open

Kevin Roth's weather report for The Safeway Open is up in the main forum. With the wind in play the first two days there could be an advantage to tee time stacking for the week. Wind speeds pick up throughout the day on Thursday with chances of gusts reaching the 25 mph range. Friday we have the same pattern in terms of the wind picking up as the day progresses, but overall the wind gusts are not expected to be as strong. Another thing to consider is that golfers who play early each day typically play in cooler weather and better greens, and the afternoon golfers get warmer weather and bumpier greens. Typically these factors cancel each other out in terms of a draw basis. If you are playing showdown slate you can look to stack the early waves each day as they should have a slight weather advantage over the afternoon golfers.

Kevin Tway to make Sentry Of Champions debut

Long regarded as one of the better young players yet to win on the PGA Tour, Kevin Tway was able to shed that title with a win to start off the wraparound season. The son of a successful PGA Tour player, Tway has all of the tools needed to compete with the best players in the world. Priced down due to the talent in this field Tway stands out as a great GPP option to start the season. With a guaranteed four rounds of golf, Tway makes sense in a ton of stars and scrubs type of builds. Driving distance and the ability to make birdies are skill sets we look at when handicapping Kapalua and Tway excels in both of these categories. Currently ranked in the 3rd position in the FedEx Cup race, no cut limited field events like the Tournament of Champions represent a great way for Tway to keep the pedal down on momentum gained in the fall.

A Nice Value Option

While I certainly don’t expect Kevin Tway to win this tournament, it would not surprise me in the slightest if Tway ends up as a top five play on a points per dollar basis. He’s a bomber who doesn’t mind letting it fly off the tee, and he should feel comfortable around the spacious confines of Kapalua. He ranked second during the fall swing and 13th in the 2017-2018 season in driving distance, which puts him among the better options in this field. If you need a salary saver to fit in the likes of Dustin Johnson or Justin Thomas at the top, Tway is a great value option in GPP formats. Remember, the “stars and scrubs” build is more viable in an event where there is no cut after the second round, as all golfers get a guaranteed four rounds of play.

Kevin Tway ranks as a great value play on DraftKings

Kevin Tway started off his season in style by winning The Safeway Open a few weeks ago. As the son of a successful PGA Tour player, Tway has long been regarded as a talented player to pay attention to in terms of long-term expectations. Making his fourth start of this young PGA Tour season, Tway stands out as a great value play on DraftKings for the week. When you compare the Tway's cost of 17.8% of the salary cap on FanDuel to his 14.6 % of the salary cap on DraftKings this newest member of the PGA Tour's winner's club makes sense a great value play on DraftKings. Currently ranked in the number two overall spot in the third tier pricing range on DraftKings by our experts, Tway could provide for a great pivot off other popular options in this range.

Kevin Tway flying under the radar

FedEx Cup points leader and first time PGA Tour winner Kevin Tway enters this week looking to keep his early season success going. As one of the longer hitters on Tour, Tway is the type of golfer that could really attack the four par fives this week. Currently projected at a sub 10% ownership Tway makes for a great value pivot off other players in his price range. In Tway's last 10 starts he has posted a top 30 six times including a win two weeks ago at The Safeway Open. With somewhat of a low price in comparison to his recent performance Tway makes for a great play at predicted low ownership.

Kevin Tway looks to stay hot

Still searching for his first PGA Tour win, Kevin Tway comes into this week riding a streak of great play. Having made six straight cuts including three straight top 25 or better finishes, Tway has his game peaking at the right point of the season. Hoping to improve on his 69th place finish in last year's FedEx Cup race, Tway will need to continue his great play if he hopes to make a deep run in the playoffs. Reasonably priced across the industry, Tway looks to have a very low projected ownership for the first event of the FedEx Cup race. As we get further into the season-ending race there will be plenty of opportunities to look for players in good form at low ownership. Tway certainly has the form we are looking for, and a projected sub 3% ownership, he represents a fantastic spot to differentiate your lineups from other popular value plays.
