Tim Frazier Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Andre Drummond (lip) and Bruce Brown (illness) out Friday; Tim Frazier (illness) available
Drummond and Brown have officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Friday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to their respective ailments, while Tim Frazier will be available to play after missing one game with an illness. The absences of Brown and Frazier in Wednesday’s blowout win immediately thrust Reggie Jackson into the backup point guard role behind Derrick Rose in his first game back from an extended injury layoff, and he was phenomenal for fantasy purposes in just 19 minutes of action, but head coach Dwane Casey already confirmed to reporters that Jackson will have a similar minute restriction in tonight's contest. Other than Thon Maker and Christian Wood's increased playing time, Derrick Rose has been the clear beneficiary with Drummond, Brown, and all the injured Pistons off the court, as he owns a 34.9% usage rate, 54.5% assist rate, and is averaging 1.48 DraftKings and 1.44 FanDuel points per minute in a 218.1 minutes sample size.
Tim Frazier (shoulder) listed out Monday
Frazier has been listed out on the Pistons' inactive list for Monday's matchup against the Washington Wizards due to a strained right shoulder. With Derrick Rose also still sidelined, Bruce Brown will draw another start at point guard, and he was fantastic for fantasy purposes in a whopping 40 minutes of action in Saturday's win. Brown was clearly extremely efficient in that contest, but even if he regresses, he still owns a 26.4% usage rate and a 19.4% assist rate with Frazier, Rose, and Reggie Jackson off the court this season, leaving him plenty of room to achieve a ceiling across the daily fantasy industry this evening.
Derrick Rose (hamstring) and Tim Frazier (shoulder) out Saturday
Both Rose and Frazier have been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Saturday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, while Reggie Jackson will miss a fifth straight contest due to lower back tightness. Frazier has been filling in as the Pistons starting point guard with Jackson sidelined and has essentially played 21-22 minutes in each of his spot starts, but he’s been easily outplayed by Rose, who has absorbed a majority of the available point guard playing time, capping out at roughly 27 minutes over this stretch. With both guards unable to suit up, Bruce Brown and Langston Galloway will more than likely assume the ball-handling responsibilities, though neither can be categorized as a natural point guard, which could lead to freshly recalled Jordan Bone receiving some run at the point as well.
Derrick Rose (hamstring) and Tim Frazier (shoulder) listed questionable Saturday
Both Rose and Frazier have popped up on the latest version of the Pistons' injury report and are questionable for Saturday's matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, while Reggie Jackson will miss a fifth straight contest due to lower back tightness. Frazier has been filling in as the Pistons starting point guard with Jackson sidelined and has essentially played 21-22 minutes in each of his spot starts, but he's been easily outplayed by Rose, who has absorbed a majority of the available point guard playing time, capping out at roughly 27 minutes over this stretch. If both are unable to suit up, Bruce Brown and Langston Galloway would more than likely assume the ball-handling responsibilities, though neither can be categorized as a natural point guard.
Reggie Jackson (back) out Saturday; Tim Frazier will start
Jackson has officially been downgraded from questionable and won't play in Saturday's matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers due to lower back tightness. In his absence, Tim Frazier will receive the starting nod at point guard, but head coach Dwane Casey also implied that Bruce Brown could see some minutes as the backup point guard as well, which would free up some additional playing time on the wing for someone like Luke Kennard off the bench. Frazier sets up as a thin play, at best, on a slate that is not devoid of value options, especially since Derrick Rose has played at least 25 minutes in both games this season and owns a 34.3% usage rate with an average of 1.17 FanDuel and 1.27 DraftKings points per minute thus far.
Shenanigans
I'm fully expecting all sorts of active/inactive shenanigans out of Atlanta and Milwaukee today and wanted to note that it's going to be *extremely* important to see who is actually playing for their respective teams. If we have a similar situation to yesterday where Giannis is out and Bledsoe is in, Bledsoe is an automatic cash play. I have my doubts that Bledsoe sees the court and think it's more likely that the Bucks play all of their reserves like they did in their last matchup against Atlanta. Tim Frazier played 53 (!!) minutes - literally the whole game - in that game and would be one of the top overall value plays on the slate if the Bucks rest their starters again.
E'Twaun Moore (leg) out Wednesday
E'Twaun Moore out for the Pelicans tonight. It now seems like they'll have to work a guy like Ian Clark back into the rotation, although the DFS-viable members of this team are pretty clear. AD, Randle and Holiday are your viable high-end spends here with Tim Frazier setting up for a more secure role as a starter, making him viable in any format. Chieck Diallo is also on the GPP radar with Mirotic out.
Frank Jackson (ankle) out Wednesday; Tim Frazier starts ahead of Wesley Johnson
Jackson tweaked his ankle during pregame warmups and has officially been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup against the Washington Wizards due to a sprained right ankle. Jackson's role in the rotation has been sporadic, at best, but his absence will clear the way for Frazier to see meaningful minutes as the starting point guard in tonight's contest, which will send Wesley Johnson to resume a reserve role and enable Jrue Holiday to play off the ball a bit more often than he has in recent games. Frazier has played more than 21 minutes just once all season, so this news doesn't mean he's automatically locked into a starters' minute workload alongside Holiday in the backcourt. On top of that, he has just a 12.7% usage rate and is averaging only 0.67 DraftKings and 0.66 FanDuel points per minute on the season, making him a pretty unappealing punt option in tournaments.
Wesley Johnson will start ahead of Tim Frazier on Saturday
The Pelicans are still without Elfrid Payton due to a sprained right ankle, and head coach Alvin Gentry has opted to start Wesley Johnson at small forward in Saturday's matchup against the San Antonio Spurs to primarily deal with DeMar DeRozan on the defensive end of the floor. New Orleans has quite a logjam at the forward positions with Darius Miller returning from injury, so it doesn't appear likely that Johnson will be relied upon for heavy minutes despite getting the first crack at slowing down DeRozan this evening. This lineup change is probably just matchup-related, so it'd surprise no one if Frazier is right back in the starting lineup for the Pelicans next game if Payton misses more time.
Tim Frazier will start ahead of Solomon Hill on Wednesday
Frazier will start at point guard in Wednesday's matchup against the Golden State Warriors, which will send Solomon Hill back to the bench to resume a reserve role. With Darius Miller and Elfrid Payton already confirmed as inactive, Hill should continue to see significant playing time with the second unit, though he still only logged 19 minutes in the Pelicans previous game. Julius Randle and Jahlil Okafor alternated starts at center in Anthony Davis’ absence, but both will head back to the bench to resume reserve roles with Davis making his return to the starting lineup this evening. Jrue Holiday continues to be the main beneficiary with Payton sidelined, as he’s taken over as the primary playmaker in the starting unit and is averaging 1.26 DraftKings and 1.24 FanDuel points per minute with a 28.6% usage rate with him off the court.
