Editor’s note: Welcome to a new morning segment, “The Breakfast Spread,” for daily sports betting notes and insights to help build your bankroll.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Paul George has been on a tear recently, averaging 34 points in his last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Kansas Jayhawks are big favorites at home on Saturday, despite being down to only eight scholarship players. We look at some of the top stories in sports betting to get your morning started.

Philadelphia Starters Shine, Kings Finish Strong

The Philadelphia 76ers did not hesitate to show off their new pieces Friday night, especially Tobias Harris, in their 117-110 win over the Denver Nuggets. Philadelphia starters outscored Denver by 14 points, helping 76ers bettors cover by a half-point. Harris scored 14 points in 32 minutes of play.

On the West Coast, the Sacramento Kings (-3.5) finished on a 16-2 run to beat the Miami Heat 102-96. The Kings are now 20-9 ATS at home and 32-23 ATS overall.

What to Watch

The Thunder travel to Houston as two MVP candidates, Paul George and James Harden, headline Saturday’s nine-game NBA slate. The Rockets opened as 2.5-point favorites with a game total of 235.5.

Other games include the Tobias-less Clippers taking on the Celtics -11.5 (225.5). The Clippers currently sit in the No. 8 spot in the West but dealing Harris before the trade deadline suggests their front office has little interest in making the playoffs. The Clippers lost by 24 points as 6.5-point underdogs at Indiana in their first game following the trade.

Prop Shop: Paul George Over/Under 28.5 points

Paul George has been on a tear recently, playing at an MVP level both offensively and defensively. The Over on George’s point totals are 8-2 during his last 10 games. George is averaging 34 points per game during that same span.

Stat of the Day

Anthony Davis scored 32 points against the Timberwolves despite sitting the entire fourth quarter Friday night. Davis went over his points prop (28) in less than 25 minutes.

Jayhawks Down to Eight Scholarship Players

After winning 14 straight conference titles, it looks like No. 13 Kansas’ reign over the Big 12 might finally come to an end. Kansas announced that senior guard Lagerald Vick will take an indefinite leave of absence Friday. With Marcus Garrett ruled out, Kansas is left with only eight scholarship players in Saturday’s matchup against Oklahoma State.

The Jayhawks opened as 11.5-point home favorites, and the total opened at 140.5. For more college hoops betting info be sure to check out Tom Casale’s opening lines report.
