2023 3M Open Weather Forecast and Projections
We’re teeing off for the 3M Open this week, and while the heat may be an issue (heat advisory is in place), the golfing conditions are pretty solid overall.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps to soften and slow the course, meaning it helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

3M Open Weather Report & Forecast
Round 1 Weather Projection – Thursday, July 27th
Nice start to things, outside of the aforementioned heat (feels-like temps around 100 degrees in the afternoon). Winds are light to start, 5mph, increasing to around 10mph by the afternoon, with just a low chance of a shower or storm.
Round 2 Weather Projection – Friday, July 28th
Winds pick up a bit, 5-10mph early morning, should increase to 10-15mph in the afternoon, though there is some model disagreement about peak wind timeframe here. Scattered showers and storms possible.
Round 3 Weather Projection – Saturday, July 29th
Rain chances go away, winds stay in the 5-10mph range.
Round 4 Weather Projection – Sunday, July 30th
A nice day to close it out, light winds and low rain chances.
3M Open Weather Forecast
As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. But in the case of the 3M Open, I don’t see any big wind advantage. Maybe a tiny lean towards taking advantage of the great weather Thursday AM and going with a Thurs AM / Fri PM build, but I think the edge is slight (if at all). Stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
