What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – PIT -200
Pitcher Grind Down
PIT – The Pirates just keep finding ways to win, add a pinch hit Josh Harrison HR to the list. I think Charlie Morton will be rostered by a lot of people tonight. He is really cheap across the board and faces a Marlins offense that still has trouble scoring runs consistently. Morton will likely give up a couple of runs, but should still be in line for the win. Rating = 7
MIA – Tom Koehler faced this same Pirates team two starts ago. In that game, he gave up 9 hits and 5 earned runs in only 5 innings. I expect a similar performance to that tonight. Rating = 3
Batter Grind Down
PIT – Neil Walker, Garrett Jones, and Pedro Alvarez all get the lefty/righty splits in their favor, and a hot Andrew McCutchen is never a bad play either.
MIA – Morton is a great option today because of his price, but he will likely give up a couple of runs so it could be a good spot to take a chance on one of the rookie Marlins bats. Either Marisnick or Yelich.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – WAS -125
Pitcher Grind Down
WAS – Jordan Zimmerman is surprisingly cheap on a few sites today. He did have a couple of bad starts in a row against the Mets and Dodgers, but he bounced back and threw 6 scoreless innings in his last start. Even though the Braves bats have been hot, I think Zimmerman is in play on sites where he is priced in that middle tier. Rating = 7
ATL – Kris Medlen continues to get love from Vegas and I just don’t get it. In my eyes, the Nationals should be -150 favorites, but everytime Medlen takes the mound, he seems to get better odds than I initially thought he would. Medlen has not been very good this season with an ERA around 4 and a WHIP around 1.4. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
WAS – Like I said, I’m not a big believer in Medlen being the same guy that he was last season. For that reason, I think some Nats are in play tonight. Medlen has given up a decent OPS to both left and right hand bats so I think I will be targeting Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman.
ATL – Zimmerman has great BvP numbers against the Braves and I’ve already recommended taking Zimmy tonight so I won’t backtrack by recommending Braves bats too.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 6.5
- Favored Team – NYM -210
Pitcher Grind Down
NYM – Mejia had a real nice start last night, that should be the warm up act for a much greater performance tonight. Matt Harvey continues to dominate each lineup that he faces and he couldn’t have caught the Rockies at a better time. They are ice cold right now so expect a big game from Harvey that includes close to double digit K’s. Rating = 10
COL – I would be a much bigger fan of Jhouly Chacin tonight if the opposing pitcher wasn’t Mr. Harvey. Chacin has been excellent on the road this season with a 1.78 ERA. He is also facing a Mets lineup that is without David Wright. I think Chacin makes a very good against the grain play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
NYM – Chacin has been very good on the road and the Mets are not a good home hitting team. Maybe take a shot on Ike Davis, but even that’s a stretch.
COL – Let’s do ourselves a favor and pretend that these Rockies aren’t even playing tonight.

NYY vs L | NYY BvP | CHW vs L | CHW BvP | ||||||
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – CWS -110
Pitcher Grind Down
CWS – The White Sox are throwing another lefty out to face the Yankees. So far, both Quintana and Sale had great starts against the Yanks who are one of the worst hitting teams against left hand pitching. I don’t quite like Hector Santiago as much as the other two though. Santiago is going to be the unfortunate beneficiary of a Yankees lineup finally producing. Rating = 4
NYY – CC Sabathia has been awful lately. He really hurt a lot of Grinders (including myself) in his last start against the Padres. So now what do we do with him? He is the cheapest that I can ever remember him being and we all know how much upside he has. But he has really been off his game. I think he is in play on multi-pitcher sites, but stay away on single pitcher sites just in case. Rating = 7
Batter Grind Down
CWS – Alex Rios and Alexei Ramirez both hit lefties well and have good numbers against CC. I think they are both worthy options at their positions with the way CC has been playing.
NYY – I think the Yankees bats come alive tonight if for no other reason than they are a much better hitting team than they have shown in this series. The Yankees finally have some right hand bats to plug into the lineup so it’s only a matter of time before their numbers against lefties get better.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – KC -110
Pitcher Grind Down
KC – Danny Duffy is making his first start of the season after struggling a bit in the minors before his call up. When young pitchers are in these situations, I think it’s best to just avoid them until you know more about them. Rating = 4
MIN – Samuel Deduno gets the start tonight and is coming off of 4 straight quality starts. The problem with Deduno is that he hasn’t been nearly as good on the road as he has at home and he is facing a red hot Royals team. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
KC – The Royals got blanked last night, but I don’t think that their hot streak has reached it’s end. I still think the Royals will play some good ball and get back to winning. Target the left hand bats of Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer tonight.
MIN – Not sure what to expect out of Duffy tonight, but we do know that he is a lefty so if you are going to target anyone from the Twins, make it be a right hand bat. Trevor Plouffe is dirt cheap and has always crushed lefties.
