What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.5
- Favored Team – MIL -155
Pitcher Grind Down
MIL – Kyle Lohse is back to being Kyle Lohse. His 3.49 ERA and 1.15 WHIP are both numbers that we have come to expect from him. He is pitching in a hitter-friendly park tonight, but the Padres are an average offense at best. Lohse should pitch well and put his team in a good position to get the win.
SD – Sean O’Sullivan has an ERA over 6 and a WHIP over 2.00. He is most likely the cheapest pitcher across the board. In addition to the awful stats, he isn’t a very high strike out pitcher so if he gives up runs he’s not going to make up for it with strike outs. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
MIL – I love the Brewers bats tonight. Even though they don’t have Braun or Ramirez, they still have enough firepower to put up a good number of runs against O’Sullivan. Lots of value on the board, Jean Segura, Nori Aoki, and Rickie Weeks all are good plays.
SD – Lohse is currently giving up a .285 average to right hand batters, but I expect that number to come down as the season progresses. I’m not taking any Padres bats today, but if I had to I would take Everth Cabrera, he keeps racking up those stolen bases.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.5
- Favored Team – STL -180
Pitcher Grind Down
STL – Jake Westbrook has pitched well over his last 3 starts but he only has 3 K’s over those starts. And that’s combined, not per game. The upside on Westbrook just isn’t there. Avoid
PHI – John Lannan has allowed one or less earned run in 3 of his last 4 starts which is very surprising considering who this is. But I’m going to call this one: Lannan will give up more than one earned run tonight, actually make that more than 4 earned runs tonight. The Cardinals are good against lefties. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
STL – Allen Craig has been a beast against lefties his whole career. He is batting clean up and isn’t very expensive compared to some of the other top OF’s. Yadier Molina also crushes lefties, he has a .353 average and a .890 OPS against them.
PHI – Westbrook has really struggled against lefties this season. He is allowing them to hit for a .330 average and an OPS of .898. That makes Chase Utley and Domonic Brown both great options.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 9.5
- Favored Team – COL -180
Pitcher Grind Down
COL – Jorge De La Rosa has actually pitched well in Coors this season. He has a 2.96 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He is also a big favorite tonight. That said, I’m not breaking my no pitchers in Coors rule for De La Rosa. Avoid
MIA – So far this series has been very low scoring. I have a feeling that is going to change tonight. Jacob Turner has given up 8 earned runs in his last 3 starts and now has to pitch in Coors. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
COL – I think tonight is the night for the Rockies bats to heat up. They have been kept quiet by the Marlins pitchers so far in this series, but this is Coors Field we are talking about. I love the lefty/righty matchup for Carlos Gonzalez and I also think Tulo and Cuddyer are in for big games.
MIA – Who hits lefties well? That’s right it’s Giancarlo “Don’t call me Mike” Stanton. His OPS against lefties is over 1.000 over the last two seasons and he is playing in Coors. Keep taking Stanton.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.0
- Favored Team – ARI -140
Pitcher Grind Down
ARI – Ian Kennedy has really had a rough go of it this season. There was a point where it looked like he was finally getting it together, but then he went back to pitching the way he has all season. His 5.29 ERA and 1.395 WHIP have me believing that he isn’t going to turn it around this season. He’s cheap, but he also hasn’t pitched well. Avoid
CHC – Jeff Samardzija has great upside thanks to his 9.2 strike outs per 9 innings. Chase Field is usually not a place that I like to take opposing pitchers in, but I think tonight could be a good spot for Samardzija. In Play
Batter Grind Down
ARI – Martin Prado has really been playing well this month, his average is slowly climbing it’s way back to .300. I think both he and Paul Goldschmidt are in play.
CHC – Kennedy has not pitched well and the Cubs offense has actually been scoring some runs lately. I think Starlin Castro makes a great play as he has really picked it up since the All-Star break. Another guy to keep your eye on is Anthony Rizzo.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – CIN -115
Pitcher Grind Down
SF – Chad Gaudin was the key to success last Friday in the Midsummer Classic on DK. He came up with a monster performance. Can he do it again tonight against the Reds? So far in this series the Giants starting pitchers have gotten crushed. The Reds bats are all heating up and I think Gaudin will be overpriced thanks to his last start. Avoid
CIN – Mike Leake continues his under the radar season. He has been a great pitcher all season long and he just doesn’t get any love. The Giants offense can go quiet at times and Leake will be pitching in a pitcher friendly park. I like the spot he is in tonight. In Play
Batter Grind Down
- I’m not crazy about hitters from either of these teams. Maybe take a shot on one of the cheaper Reds bats, but don’t overpay for hitters in this pitcher’s park.
