2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: PGA Golf Betting Picks This Week

Before going over some betting picks, the weather will be important this weekend. The weather report suggests a rough weekend, with Sunday very much in question. If you will play DFS or attempt to bet live, revisit the forecast for the weekend.

Unless mentioned otherwise, all strokes gained statistics will be referenced over the player’s previous 36 rounds on the PGA TOUR.

Justin Thomas +2500 (BetMGM)

Thomas seems to be back on the winning path with recent performances. Pebble Beach just so happens to be a course where Thomas could thrive.

The fast poa greens will mitigate the importance of putting, but the course will reward what Thomas has always done best: exquisite ball striking coupled with creative around-the-green play. The greens at Pebble Beach are so small that proximity to the hole will be far more important than getting hot with the putter.

Thomas ranks in the top 30 in SG: Approach and proximity from 125-150 yards. He ranks 9th in SG: ARG. Thomas is on the cusp of a resurgence, and I want to get in before it happens.

J.T. Poston +5000 (bet365)

J.T. Poston continues to find a way into our articles and for good reason. Pebble Beach is a good course for Poston’s skill set.

Poston ranks 1st in the field in putting and 2nd in strokes gained on P4: 350-400. He is an excellent approach and wedge player and possesses enough ability around the green to save par if he misses with his approach shot.

Poston is facing significantly more challenging competition than the normal PGA TOUR fields he faces each week. That said, at 50-1, we get a nice price if he has a big week.

Eric Cole +6600 (BetRivers)

Cole struggled at Torrey Pines but returns to a course more suited to his skill set. Not the longest hitter, Cole can capitalize on an elite approach and short game to make a run at his first title.

Cole has been a popular bet for the better part of a year now, and we finally fetch a more palpable number because of field strength. Cole finished 15th at this event last season, gaining 4 strokes from tee to green. With no worry about length, this is one of the courses we can take a shot on Cole.

He might be a bit of a reach for one-and-done pools but a very worthy cheap addition to our card.

Denny McCarthy +9000 (FanDuel)

A personal favorite of mine, McCarthy finished 4th last year at Pebble Beach. Gaining 6 strokes on the green, McCarthy is always a threat when the putter gets hot.

McCarthy is not the top approach player in the field and struggles a bit in our key Par 4 range. However, a wildly hot flat stick can make up for those categories. At the Memorial, McCarthy nearly converted an exquisite putting performance into his first victory in a loaded field. One bad drive and a heroic birdie from Viktor Hovland put McCarthy’s ascent on hold, but we know he can draw from that experience.

Still the 2nd-best putter in the field over his last 36 rounds, I think 90-1 is a bargain for McCarthy. We close our card with him on FanDuel Sportsbook.
