Happy Wednesday! We have had back-to-back tough days in this article, likely due to the fact that we are over-focusing on hitter props instead of sticking to our bread and butter – pitcher props, which we are 29-10 (74.4%) to begin 2023.
Wednesday’s 15-game MLB slate began with a matchup between the Texas Rangers and Cincinnati Reds at 12:35 p.m. EST. Following seven afternoon games, there are eight more contests with a scheduled first pitch of 6:35 p.m. EST or later.
Below are three prop leans for April 26 as we look to get back on track!

MLB Player Props Today
- Logan Gilbert o5.5 strikeouts
- Michael Wacha o15.5 outs recorded
- Hunter Brown more than 15.5 outs recorded
Logan Gilbert o5.5 strikeouts (-134), FanDuel
In four starts this season, Logan Gilbert has eclipsed this market number four times – striking out at least six batters against the Cleveland Guardians (twice), Chicago Cubs, and Milwaukee Brewers. Entering play on Wednesday, the Philadelphia Phillies rank 19th in K% overall this year, 16th in K% across the last two weeks, and 21st in K% against right-handed pitching. Gilbert has been getting a lot of swings and misses on pitches outside the zone this season, which could come in handy against a Philadelphia offense that ranks 23rd in swing% on pitches out of the zone this year. This is a good matchup for Gilbert, and he benefits from Ryan Wills calling balls and strikes. Take the over here.
Michael Wacha o15.5 outs recorded (-110), Caesars
Michael Wacha has been as bad as he could be across his last two starts, allowing 12 earned runs in 8.1 innings of action. However, this low market number still feels like an overreaction to two bad starts after Wacha’s strong start to the year. He is averaging an efficient 3.79 pitches per batter faced this year. In his first two turns through the rotation, Wacha allowed only four earned runs and had 12 strikeouts in 12.0 innings – recording 18 outs in both games. Today, he gets to pitch in frigid temperatures at Wrigley Field, which should be favorable for run prevention metrics in this one. The San Diego Padres arm barn is not overly taxed heading into action today, but they would still love to get some length from their starting pitcher here. Trust Wacha to be at least mildly effective in this one.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Hunter Brown more than 15.5 outs recorded, PrizePicks
Similar to Michael Wacha, this low market number for Hunter Brown outs today feels like an overreaction to his most recent start against the Atlanta Braves, in which he allowed four earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. Still, Brown had seven strikeouts in that matchup, allowed very little hard contact, and did an excellent job pounding the strike zone – earning a first-pitch strike to 66.7% of his total batters faced. Brown is averaging 3.94 pitches per batter faced to begin 2023 and has been stretched out to as high as 99 pitches in a single start. Brown should have a minimum of 23 batters faced to record 16 outs in this spot. It would be shocking if he did not at least get sent out for the sixth inning. Trust him to get the job done here.
