MLB Player Props Today
- Marcus Stroman u4.5 strikeouts
- Kyle Wright o16.5 outs recorded
- Steven Kwan less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts
Marcus Stroman u4.5 strikeouts (-146), FanDuel
Across the last 14 days, only the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles have struck out less frequently than the Washington Nationals. Across the last month, the Nationals have struck out less than any team in baseball. The Nationals chase pitches outside of the zone more often than the league-average team, but they also make contact on those swings more often than any other club in baseball – meaning that their poor plate discipline leads more to weak outs in play than it does strikeouts. Stroman ranks in only the 37th percentile in whiff rate, meaning that he does not often throw the ball by hitters in the zone, which is unsurprising given his low 90s fastball. Take the under in this spot.
Kyle Wright o16.5 outs recorded (-125), BetMGM
Kyle Wright has had an uneven beginning to the 2023 campaign. Following a trip to the injured list, he made his season debut on April 11 against the Cincinnati Reds, allowing four earned runs in 3.0 innings of work. In each of his next two starts, he threw 95 pitches, but then was removed after only 45 pitches in his last outing against the Miami Marlins due to heavy rain resulting in a three-hour, one-minute rain delay. On Wednesday, he gets to face the Marlins once again, this time at loanDepot park. Across the last 14 days, Miami ranks 22nd in OPS and 27th in ISO. Wright has a favorable matchup – take the over here.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Steven Kwan less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks
Steven Kwan has not been quite as impressive as his rookie season so far in 2023, but he still has an incomprehensibly-low 10.8% strikeout rate through his first 139 plate appearances. Facing right-handed pitching, his strikeout rate is even lower. Tonight, Kwan gets to face Clarke Schmidt, who has had more trouble with left-handed batters than right-handed batters so far this year. Expect Kwan to put the ball in play or to draw a walk in each of his trips to the box tonight.
