NBA Player Props – Lakers vs. Warriors, May 4, 2023

Stephen Curry u31.5 points (-115), PointsBet

Stephen Curry is one of the most impressive scorers of his generation. However, his market number is unduly inflated right now as a result of his heroic 50-point performance in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings. In Game 1, we took the under with his line at 32.5, and the market has remained inflated enough to make the under appealing again for Game 2. Against the Kings, Curry had 28 points or more in all seven games, but he also had a very favorable matchup against a weak perimeter defense. From February 15 to the end of the regular season, the Lakers ranked fourth in opponent three-point percentage, compared to the Kings, which ranked 29th. Curry may average north of 25 points per game in this series, but the under on his points prop is likely to hit more times than not against this Los Angeles defense.

Klay Thompson o22.5 points (-118), FanDuel

Klay Thompson took an astounding 25 shot attempts in Game 1 against Los Angeles, finishing with 25 points in the losing effort. While Thompson’s inefficiency has been problematic for the Warriors across his last three games, it carries a different meaning for bettors. From a betting perspective, his high volume suggests that Thompson has an incredibly safe floor on a night-to-night basis and will continue to have the green light for the foreseeable future – the coaching staff obviously trusts that he will break out of his current slump. If Thompson attempts 20 shots again tonight, it is likely that the over cashes here.

LeBron James less than 21.5 field goal attempts, PrizePicks

Though we lost on this play in the series opener, we are running it back one more time. We played the ‘less than’ on LeBron’s field goal attempts in each of his six games against the Memphis Grizzlies, with that recommendation cashing five times. Ahead of tip-off in Game 2, James has attempted 20 field goals or less in five of seven games played during these playoffs and 25 of his last 34 postseason games overall. We will hold firm on our stance here until it is proven that we need to alter our course.
