The Washington Football Team and the Dallas Cowboys will engage in a division showdown on Sunday Night Football in Week 16 at AT&T Stadium. Entering play, Washington has suffered back-to-back losses within the division, which has all but erased any possibility they had of a Cinderella run to the postseason. Dallas has clinched a playoff berth, but has their eyes set on the top seed in the NFC playoff picture with three games remaining in the regular season.
Oddsmakers are anticipating a relatively easy victory for the Cowboys in this matchup of two teams trending in opposite directions, pricing Dallas as an 8.5-point favorite on the spread. As we approach kickoff, the value on the spread and the total has been reduced compared to its opening market price. Instead of forcing action on saturated markets, bettors may find more expected value on player props for this Sunday Night Football game.
Football Team vs. Cowboys Player Props
Dak Prescott o2.5 touchdown passes (+164)
If expecting a strong night from Dak Prescott in this one, there is tremendous value on his passing touchdowns prop. Prescott has struggled to a 9-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio since the beginning of November, but is certainly capable of putting up gaudy numbers on any given week. From Week 3 to Week 6, Prescott threw for at least three touchdowns in each of his four contests. Washington has arguably the worst secondary unit in the NFL. Take the over here at significant plus-money.
Taylor Heinicke u225.5 passing yards (-110)
When these two teams met earlier this month, Taylor Heinicke struggled mightily, completing only 11-of-25 passes for 122 passing yards. Heinicke subsequently landed on the COVID-19 reserve list, and was only activated to the roster two days ago. In the rematch, there are quite a few factors working against a strong Heinicke performance. Expect him to double his passing yards from his most recent matchup with the Cowboys is likely to be a tall order. The under has value here.
Ezekiel Elliott o51.5 rushing yards (-110)
Washington’s defensive line played exceptional football during the early portion of this season, but injuries have hurt this team’s ability significantly as the season has progressed. Also working in favor of Elliott in this one is what is likely to be a run-heavy game script. Two weeks ago when these teams met, Elliott totaled 45 rushing yards in a limited workload as he was dealing with an injury. Healthier heading into this matchup, he should be able to collect an extra six yards, playing at home on Sunday Night Football.
Ezekiel Elliott Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-120)
Elliott has seen his carries limited during the latter half of the regular season, both due to the emergence of Tony Pollard, and due to nagging injuries. However, this split has not done much to hurt Elliott’s chances on the goal line. In Elliott’s last six games, he has four rushing touchdowns. On the season, Elliott has nine rushing touchdowns, which ranks 7th-best in the NFL. Dallas should have more than a few scoring opportunities in this one. Expect Elliott to have a chance to find pay dirt in this one.
