The back-to-back Super Bowl champions are 3-point favorites against the team they knocked off in the AFC Championship last season. Lamar Jackson is 12-1 as a starter against the spread as an underdog, but I’m not a fan of betting the Ravens to cover +3 this time.
In fact, I like the Chiefs’ moneyline at -150. While that price alone isn’t the best, I try to bet against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid as little as possible. Reid has had all summer to cook up a game plan for his offense, and I need to see how the Ravens play on defense in the absence of Mike MacDonald before betting on them.
When looking at player props to add to a parlay, I see value on a couple of Ravens. Mark Andrews was coming off a severe injury in last year’s AFC Championship Game, so he only had two catches for 15 yards. His odds of getting at least 50 receiving yards are -105, which feels like great value for the best pass catcher on the team.
Another value I like is Justice Hill getting over 14.5 rushing yards for -115 odds. Hill is the bona fide number two in that backfield, and I think the Ravens will be careful to give Derrick Henry some breathers throughout the season to keep him fresh when it matters.
