Big Events Breakdown: King's Crown, DFBC and More!

There’s only one spot left in the DFBC, 11 spots left in the DSBC and a whole new tournament to get excited about with the King’s Crown over at DailyJoust. All of these events also took place last Friday night, bringing a lot of money and a lot of fun to the daily fantasy world. This week, we break down the ongoing winners of the DSBC and DFBC, as well as the winner of the inaugural King’s Crown tournament and the RotoGrinders Monthly DailyJoust freeroll(first round of qualifying). But before we unveil all of the winners and how it went down, let’s take a look at the Friday that was in Major League Baseball.

Friday Night Studs

Bronson Arroyo. Apparently he was the guy to have on Friday night as he shocked the world and shut the Padres down with a complete game, 8 K shutout. Not many jumped on the Arroyo bandwagon, and I admit I was skeptical of the guy going against a team that had combined hit almost .300 against him in the past. But, Arroyo stole the show and led to a lot of late night comebacks in daily fantasy this Friday. Reed Johnson was another half-surprise with a homer and a double, but he had owned Johan Santana leading up to Friday so it wasn’t too shocking. And the Yankees stack was a successful route as well, as they hung ten runs up on Josh Beckett and the Red Sox bullpen. Obviously, there were a ton of other guys who went yard, but those are some of the sneaky picks that led to success on Friday.

DFBC Update: Mal_nlp Takes Down GeneralV Late

What a crazy night in the DFBC this week, as Mal_nlp pushed past GeneralV not once but twice in the late goings with Bronson Arroyo at the helm. I say twice because GeneralV had multiple entries in the top-10 but came up just short with his top team finishing second. Mal_nlp now moves onto Vegas thanks to huge performances from A-Rod, Mark Teixeira, A.J. Pierzynski and the afore mentioned Bronson Arroyo. Overall, his team combined to put 70 fantasy points up and edged out GeneralV by a tiny 1.25 points. Jnord, the third place finisher, had a legitimate shot at it as well but came up short with Andrelton Simmons on Friday and didn’t put up enough to overcome. All in all, it was one of the most exciting weeks in the DFBC as the late night heroics of Bronson Arroyo separated Mal_nlp from GeneralV who went with Detroit’s Drew Smyly. Only one spot left in the DFBC so be sure to enter this coming Friday for your last chance at a trip to Vegas and a shot at $100,000.

DSBC Update: DinkPiece Earns A Qualifier Spot

rg%20misc%20dsbc%202

With 11 spots left in the DSBC, Grinders member Dinkpiece earned his place in the final DraftStreet Baseball Championship Tournament. Dinkpiece was helped by Brian McCann granny for the Braves as well as Reed Johnson, Derek Jeter, Curtis Granderson and of course, Bronson Arroyo. Dinkpiece hung 83.65 points up to win the $109-entry DSBC event, a low total compared to all of the qualifiers but not surprising because it was a low scoring evening for the most part. More exciting was the ridiculous margin of victory he had over second placed finisher, and Top-100 ranked Grinder, ReignonU. ReignonU finished just .4 points back with a score of 83.25. A Red Sox stack helped ReignonU to within range of taking down Dinkpiece, but at the end of the day the Josh Beckett selection came back to haunt him. Beckett only put up a score of .75 and really held ReignonU back. Congrats to Dinkpiece, though, and hopefully everyone heads over to DS as soon as possible to try and earn one of the final spots in the DSBC.

DailyJoust Inaugural King’s Crown Qualifier: StackAttack Takes 1st

rg%20misc%20king's%20crown%201

No real stack for the self-proclaimed StackAttack, but he had enough in the tank to take 1st place and one of 12 seats to the final King’s Crown event scheduled for September. In an extremely top heavy event, where it is essentially win or go home, StackAttack relied on Curtis Granderson, Mark Trumbo and BRONSON ARROYO to take home the victory. Here’s an interesting stat from StackAttack’s team on Friday night. Bronson Arroyo scored as many fantasy points as his top three hitters combined(Granderson 13, Trumbo 11, McCann 14). Clearly you had to have Arroyo on Friday night if you wanted a shot to win as the hitters were quiet across MLB and Arroyo went beast. StackAttack’s final score of 106 was just enough to edge JVW2406 who put up 100 points. JVW2406 relied on Yovani Gallardo who threw well but ended up with a ridiculous pitch count and wasn’t able to stay in the game long enough to put up the 6 fantasy points that separated him from StackAttack. JVW2406 also hit it near perfect with hitters, as Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun, BJ Upton and Brian McCann all went yard for him. It was too little to late and the first piece of the King’s Crown goes to StackAttack, who again didn’t stack!

RotoGrinders Monthly DailyJoust Freeroll

Remember JVW2406 from the King’s Crown breakdown(all of two inches above this)? Well he didn’t go totally empty-handed on Friday night as he was able to win our RG Monthly Freeroll at DJ and advance to the second round of the 50/50 tournament with the same team that pushed him to second place in the King’s Crown. Second place, but 13 points back, was a red-hot Grinder Gavlam who has been winning a ton of money at DraftKings on a recent hot streak and advanced as well. As it stands right now, I believe there are 8 players remaining including our very own Dan Back who loves himself some DailyJoust baseball (db730).

Alright well that is the breakdown for all the news in the big events across daily fantasy sports. Check back in next week as the FINAL DFBC SPOT IS FILLED and more excitement in the DSBC, King’s Crown and even maybe a couple DOCOFS II teasers are unleashed. Enjoy the All-Star break, or if you’re like me, enjoy being confused as to what to do when there is no daily fantasy available. Good luck out there and keep on grinding.
