Big Events Breakdown Week 13: Another Week Of Dominance In The Major Q's!

One of our own made headlines by taking down a major qualifier in consecutive weeks, so a big congratulations is in order for RotoGrindersCal, who took down the $22 Draftstreet Q on his birthday. Tshirt took down the other DS qualifier, and RG will be very well represented in Vegas. This week is your last chance to win a DFFC entry, and the $420 Q is already full, so make sure to get a few spots in the $22. While we are getting near of the end of the qualifying periods for all of the major end of the year tournaments (DraftKings and StarStreet Q’s are also coming to a close), there will still be plenty of money to be made in the waning weeks of the NFL regular season. For now, let’s take a look in the rearview mirror and check out the big Week 13 winners… All RotoGrinders members will have their names bolded.

As is sometimes the case when it comes to the Bomb, we did not have a single member inside the top-10. On to the major qualifiers…

Draftstreet $215 DFFC Qualifier

Tshirt takes down the final $215 qualifier of the year, and did it by finishing just .14 points ahead of second place. It was impossible to win without one of the three 40+ point receivers of Week 13, and tshirt hit it big with his Manning to Decker combination which landed him roughly 80 points. He also paired up Brady and Gronk, who delivered for over 40 points. Tshirt is 44th in the overall rankings and 66th in the TPOY standings, but both of those numbers could be on the rise if he can put together a big performance in Vegas. MrTuttle05 finished second but was soooo close to coming up with another DFFC entry. He paired up Manning and Decker as well as McCown and Alshon Jeffrey, so it’s easy to understand why he had a big week. Tuttle is 8th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and is 11th in the TPOY rankings. CSURAM88 (6th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard, 7th in the TPOY rankings) finished third, and also hit on the Chicago and Denver QB/WR combos. FanFooBaa put together a 5th place finish and hit on Zach Ertz, who was the best value at tight end this week. He’s relatively new to the Grinder community and is currently ranked 146th on the Monthly Grinder leaderboard. Golf Coach (70th in the overall rankings) finished ninth, followed by naapstermaan (currently holding down the top spot in the TPOY rankings) to round out the top-ten.

Draftstreet $22 DFFC Qualifier

A big congratulations to our own Cal on taking down a major qualifier in back-to-back weeks! Monday just happened to be his birthday, and he managed to avoid big games from a few Monday night players to win himself a DFFC seat a week after taking down a trip to the Playboy mansion. Cal is 28th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and also finds himself in 24th in our TPOY rankings. Tshirt rolled out the same lineup that won him the $215, but it landed him in sixth place in this one. MrTuttle05 also used his lineup from the $215 Q, and it put him in seventh place here. Dukedog71 (33rd in overall rankings, 41st on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished eighth by hitting on Alshon Jeffrey and Josh Gordon, followed by xraysteve who also hit on the same two receivers in addition to getting more than his moneys worth out of C.J. Spiller.

StarStreet $1K PFFC Qualifier

Since this tournament consisted of just 13 entries this week, we will only recap the top half (kind of) of the tournament, all of which are RotoGrinders members. Congratulations to dabryk (aka Andrew11432) on taking down the PFFC entry, don’t forget to take pictures during the main event weekend! I’m sure you’ll see some things there that you’ll wish you could relive over and over again.. Anyway, following dabryk (25th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) was BirdWings (3rd in the overall rankings, 4th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard), who was just over a point behind first place. Had Brandon Marshall been able post an even semi-respectable day, BirdWings would have had a good shot at winning this outright. Dabryk and BirdWings were the only two players to roster Josh McCown and Alshon Jeffrey, so it’s clear why they were out ahead of the field. Westy finished in third and fifth place, and was the only player who paired up Peyton Manning and Eric Decker. Westy is our 18th ranked NFL Grinder. Hoochy_24_82 (aka KillaB), our 2nd overall ranked NFL Grinder, finished fourth, followed by FantasyAlarm to round out the top-six.

StarStreet $500 PFFC Qualifier

Nine out of the top ten finishers in this tournament were RotoGrinders members. Ineedmoney23 finished second with the McCown-Jeffrey duo, and has worked his way up to 26th in the TPOY rankings. Pkane1 was just a few points behind in third (also with the McCown-Jeffrey combo), followed by GrindersLive host TommyG1979 in fourth, who struck gold with the Brandon Weeden to Josh Gordon combination. Headchopper (6th in the TPOY rankings, 19th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) rounds out the top-five thanks to big performances from Gordon and Spiller. Naapstermaan took down 6th, 7th and 8th place with three different lineups, but Josh Gordon was a constant in all three. Shanksalot (13th in the TPOY rankings) was back at it after taking down the 1K StarStreet qualifier last weekend, but got pretty unlucky this week with Jordan Reed sitting out on Sunday night. Hatorade (22nd in TPOY rankings, 24th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished tenth and completed a run of nine straight Grinders.

Fantasy Feud $22 FOC Qualifier

Metsrock22x hit on Decker, McCown, AP, Spiller, Michael Floyd and Gronk, which was good for a third place finish this week. Nro (aka Kaetorade) finished sixth, and he not only hit on Weeden to Gordon, but also received great value from Roddy White (19.3 points for just $45,000, which isn’t much on FF). Kaetorade is our 16th overall ranked Grinder, and he’s also excelling in NBA this season, currently sitting in 9th on the NBA Grinder leaderboard. Scott1214 (211th in the overall rankings) finished a few points behind in seventh.

DraftKings Sunday 200 Grand ($200K Guaranteed)

Anth2622 put together a very well rounded lineup, including Decker, Jeffrey, McCown, AP, and Spiller. His third place finish was good for $7,500 and an FMGF entry, and he’s worked his way up to 54th on the Monthly Grinder leaderboard. Anth has only been a member for a little over a month, so he’s definitely someone to watch out for in the near future. Traeko always seems to pop up somewhere near the top of the 200K, and he’s right there again this week in fifth place, so he’ll pick up another FMGF entry. Traeko is 34th on the Monthly Grinder leaderboard and is 40th in the TPOY rankings. DraftCheat (35th in the overall rankings, 57th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished seventh with both Gordon and Jeffrey in his lineup, and you basically needed to have two of the three 50+ point WR’s to have any chance at a top finish. CSURAM88 (10th place) was part of the 5.1% of the field who played Ben Tate, and his Denver love led him to being apart of the 3.4% of the field who rolled out Peyton Manning.

DraftDay’s $11 Bracket Blitz

The $11 DraftDay Bracket Blitz is coming to a close, as we are now down to the Final Four! Phyzz_Staxx (aka kgeorge, 20th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and 54th in the overall rankings) still has two entries remaining, and he will face off with fellow Grinder tipandpick (64th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) in one of his match-ups this week. Phyzz_Staxx will take on deeshen13 in his other match-up, and he could potentially end up facing himself in the championship, which would be kind of odd but would really make him look like a king. There’s a 75% chance a Grinder takes down the title, and you have to like those odds! Best of luck to both tipandpick and Phyzz_Staxx in what should be an epic final after so many weeks of competing to get this far.
