Big Events Breakdown Week 9: Chop DOMINATES the Industry!

rg homepage bigevents breakdown medium

Another week of million dollar qualifiers is in the books and, as usual, there were several RotoGrinders members who showed up at the top of leaderboards across the industry. I’m sure everyone is aware by now, but Fanduel, Draftstreet and DraftKings are giving away $1,000,000 to the winner’s of their respective football championships, and another round of qualifiers kick off this Sunday. StarStreet is also providing their users with quite a treat, sending their finalists to the Playboy Mansion to compete for $250,000. Big prizes will continue to be up for grabs for weeks to come, but let’s take a look in the rearview mirror and review the big Week 9 winners… All RotoGrinders members will have their names bolded.

It was another big weekend for RotoGrinders as our very own Headchopper was nearly flawless with his lineups this weekend, leading to a few legitimate chances at one-million dollars. I know the man has been receiving plenty of praise over the last few days, but it would be impossible to write this up without mentioning his accomplishments on Sunday. I’m pretty sure that if he had entered a few of his lineups into the “perfect lineup” tournaments, he would have been just one player away (Riley Cooper saw that coming?). In total, Chop took down two FFFC seats, two DFFC seats, as well as a cool 25 G’s (plus another FMGF entry) in the DK 200 Grand. Quite a weekend for the best DFS player on the planet, hats off to you sir.

Fanduel $109 FFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 headchopper FFFC Finals Seat + Trip to Vegas
2 headchopper $4,000
3 headchopper $2,000
4 headchopper $1,000
5 headchopper $700
6 headchopper $600
7 headchopper $600
8 themoneyman $600
9 headchopper $500
10 headchopper $500

Not much to say about this one other than GOOD GOD. Nine out of the top-10 entries belonged to Chop, just an insane accomplishment. It goes without saying that he hit on quite a few of the weekend’s best players; Nick Foles, Chris Johnson, Andre Johnson, T.Y. Hilton, Jimmy Graham, Stevan Ridley, the Chiefs defense… the only part of his 1st place lineup that wasn’t gold was RG3, but the rest of his lineup more than made up for that. The crazy part about his success in this tournament was that there were quite a few differences among his lineups, but he STILL was that much better than everyone else. Chop is 7th in the TPOY rankings, and is 19th in both the overall and NFL Grinder leaderboards. If I had to put money on an FFFC winner at this point, my money is on this guy.

Fanduel $25 FFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 headchopper FFFC Finals Seat + Trip to Vegas
2 ttordanato $2,500
3 mikeyblack $1,200
4 alchemist0102 $600
5 headchopper $300
6 alchemist0102 $250
7 ttordanato $200
8 tomgconnell $200
9 mbomb44 $200
10 headchopper $175

Chop takes down his second FFFC seat of the weekend in the $25 Q. The Foles-Desean combination mixed with Zac Stacy, Andre Johnson, Gronk and Stevan Ridley was just enough to outlast second place. Not only did he have the winning entry, but Chop also collected 5th and 10th place finishes. Mbomb44, the #3 ranked overall Grinder (also ranked 3rd on NFL Grinder leaderboard), finished ninth.

Fanduel $10 FFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 mikes_splendid_team FFFC Finals Seat + Trip to Vegas
2 headchopper $1,500

4 Mike5754 $350
5 Mike5754 $250
6 mbomb44 $125
7 elephant $125
8 shakeandbakebros $100
9 pals21 $100
10 wingmanusa $100

Hard to believe anyone outperformed headchopper this weekend, but one entry managed to sneak by. Chop had to settle for second place and another $1,500, not a bad consolation. Mike5754 finished in both 4th and 5th place, and he’s been moving up the rankings quickly, currently sitting in 101st in the TPOY rankings and 154th on the overall leaderboard. The Sunday night game must have been fun for him to watch, as he had both Andre Johnson and T.Y. Hilton in his lineups. Mbomb44 finished sixth, and was the final RG member in the top-ten.

Fanduel 300K Sunday Bomb

3 whistler2b $8,000
4 adammkurtz $5,500
5 jpoole $4,000

7 fragilefred $2,000
8 kidsoup $1,500
9 jtizzle609 $1,200
10 tlbelcore $1,000

Jtizzle609 was the only Grinder to place in the top-ten of the Bomb this week. CJ2K, Andre Johnson, Hilton and the Chiefs D led him to ninth place and $1,200. He is 246th on the overall rankings and 298th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard.

Draftstreet $420 DFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 Chop DFFC Main Event Entry
2 Chop $4000
3 Kaetorade $2200
4 Beastmode360 $1600
5 EmpireMaker2 $1200
6 Fantasy Alarm $1100
7 mschmitto $1000
8 Kaetorade $900
9 jae686 $800
10 dinkpiece $800

Another site, another main event entry… Chop takes this one down in style, completely obliterating the field, as his two entries were almost 50 points better than any other in the tournament. Foles to DeSean was a great combination to start with, and he again played the likes of Andre Johnson, CJ2K and T.Y. Hilton. Chop just could not miss on Sunday. Kaetorade also put together two top-ten entries, taking home 3rd and 8th place. He’s a year round Grinder who is probably even better with the NBA than he is with the NFL. Jae686 (50th on NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished 9th with two great value QB’s (Nick Foles and Jason Campbell), and was also in the top-ten in this tournament last weekend. Our #8 overall ranked Grinder, dinkpiece, closes things out in 10th place.

Draftstreet $109 DFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 Chop DFFC Main Event Entry
2 Chop $3000
3 Chop $1500
4 paulpierce3434 $1000
5 metsfan828 $700
6 TheChubasco $600
7 cmoltisanti $500
8 Chop $400
9 Chop $300
10 chetames $300

So not only does Chop win his second DFFC seat of the weekend, but he also ends up with 2nd, 3rd, 8th and 9th place finishes. It must have been exhilarating for him to watch all the cash pour into his accounts after MNF, because he had the winning formula on basically every site. Paulpierce3434 (317th in overall rankings) put up a huge score himself, but really had no chance with Chop dropping almost 300 points with his first place lineup. Metsfan828 finished 5th, and he’s currently holding down the #11 spot in both the overall rankings and on the NFL Grinder leaderboard.

Draftstreet $22 DFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 ajv174 DFFC Main Event Entry
2 MiamiMan $2400
3 batremain $1200
4 Chop $650
5 paulpierce3434 $450
6 wothebob $350
7 jman9030 $250
8 Chop $150
9 TheChubasco $100
10 shoedizzle $100

Ajv174 (aka ajv89s) put together an unbelievably well-rounded lineup to give him the victory in the $22 Q. Other than his defense, not a single member of his squad scored less than 21 points. AJV is very new to the community but he certainly made a big splash this weekend, so congratulations to him. Chop took it easy on this tournament, only taking down 4th and 8th place. Paulpierce3434 once again finds himself in the top-five, but really picked a bad weekend to have his coming out party.

Fantasy Feud $109 FOC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 dp47 FOC Entry
2 ERIII $555
3 GordieHoweHatTrick $400
4 TwoGun $300
5 dp47 $200
6 bluestem89 $0
7 westy $0
8 metsrock22x $0
9 Nro $0
10 killab2482 $0

ERIII had the two RB’s from the St. Louis/Tennessee game, but it wasn’t quite enough to push him into first place. Our 53rd overall ranked Grinder will have to settle for second, but gets a nice influx of cash to give him a few more chances next week. TwoGun (18th on NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished 4th thanks to a big game from Andre Johnson, and bluestem89 (29th on NFL Grinder leaderboard, ranked 32nd overall) finished a few spots behind in sixth. Westy followed in seventh place, and the 14th ranked NFL Grinder is in the running for an FOC entry almost every week. Metsrock22x put together an eighth place finish, and the 386th ranked NFL Grinder is still moving his way up the leaderboard. Nro (aka Kaetorade) finished ninth, followed by killab2482 (2nd on NFL Grinder leaderboard) to round out the top-ten.

8 GordieHoweHatTrick $55
9 veence $50
10 dhendry1 $45

TwoGun, our 52nd overall ranked Grinder, finished fourth in both FOC qualifiers this weekend. Petey28 followed in fifth thanks to three touchdowns from Andre Johnson, and dhendry1 (80th on NFL Grinder leaderboard) put together a 10th place finish with big games from Zac Stacy, Keenan Allen and Case Keenum.

StarStreet $1K PFFC Qualifier

Finish Player Prize
1 whiskeytavon4 PFFC Main Event Entry
2 motts81 $1000
3 tommyg1979 $1000
4 onesandzeros $0
5 PrimeTime420 $0
6 BirdWings $0
7 shanksalot $0
8 hoochy_24_48 $0
9 mdube16 $0
10 ggurtin $0

Whiskeytavon4 wins himself a trip to the mansion thanks to big performances from Stacy and Hilton. While he probably wasn’t too happy with T.Y. at halftime on Sunday night, a few hours later he found out was heading to the PFFC. Whiskeytavon4 is 31st on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and 76th in the overall rankings. Grinders Live host Tommyg1979 finishes third for the second week in a row, and could have been a bigger threat to the top two if not for the duds that Locker and Heyward-Bey posted. You have to give him some props for Marlon Brown though, who was only 7% owned in this tournament. PrimeTime420 follows up a big week 8 with a 5th place finish this week. PrimeTime is still holding down the #3 spot in the TPOY rankings in addition to being the 7th ranked overall Grinder. BirdWings followed in sixth, and not only is this guy ranked in the top 5 on the NFL leaderboard, but he’s also following suit in NBA so far as well (#3 overall). Shanksalot got a big performance out of Matt Forte on MNF, which was enough to push him into 7th. He’s moved up to ninth on the TPOY leaderboard. Killa B (hoochy_24_48), the second overall ranked NFL Grinder, finished 8th, followed by mdube16 (67th in the overall rankings) and ggurtin (aka grantgurtin) to round out the top-ten.

7 bluestem89 $109
8 tommyg1979 $109
9 BirdWings $109
10 Whiskeytavon4 $109

Westy got burned big time by the three scores from Andre Johnson on SNF, otherwise he would’ve cruised to a first place finish. Stacy, Hilton and Graham helped to lead him to a $1,000 second place prize. BirdWings finished third, followed by bluestem89 (32nd in the overall rankings) with both a 4th and 8th place entry. Chop was nice enough to leave this one for the rest of us (by comparison), but still managed to end up in 5th place. Seabie123 (280th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard) finished sixth, followed by TommyG, another BirdWings entry, and Whiskeytavon4.

DraftKings Sunday 200 Grand ($200K Guaranteed)

Finish Player Prize
1 headchopper $25,000 + FMGF Entry
2 RussARMNY $12,500 + FMGF Entry
3 mirage88 $9,000 + FMGF Entry
4 PrimeTime420 $6,750 + FMGF Entry
5 RotoGrinders $5,000 + FMGF Entry
6 reztes757 $4,000
7 Broccoli $3,000
8 johnwiu $2,250
9 Traeko $1,750
10 104365 $1,250

Chop completes his run of utter dominance by taking down 25 G’s and another FMGF entry, and this one wasn’t even close. More than 30 points separated Chop from second place, thanks to Chop being part of the 0.9% of the field that chose Nick Foles. His team in this one was probably about as close as anyone will come to a perfect lineup, so he no doubt deserved every penny he won this weekend. RussARMNY had a great lineup himself, and probably would have won this tournament most weeks with the score he put up. Russ is 98th in the TPOY rankings. Mirage88, who has worked his way up to 28th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard, finished 3rd, followed by PrimeTime420 in 4th place. RotoGrinders own Cameron represents the company well with a 5th place finish, and besides his kicker and Antonio Gates, every other member of his lineup went for over 22 points. Reztes757 (8th in TPOY, 58th overall) was just a few points away from the final FMGF entry, but I’m sure he’s not complaining with a $4,000 prize. Traeko finished 9th thanks to a big game from his Foles/DeSean combination. He is 99th in the TPOY rankings.

DraftDay’s Bracket Blitz Heating UP

This week features the “final 4” in DraftDay’s $255 Bracket Blitz, and one of those four happens to be an RG member. TheTakeOVER is our final representative, so I’m sure everyone will be pulling for him this weekend. TakeOVER is 15th in our overall rankings in addition to occupying 19th place in the TPOY rankings, and will take on deeshen13 for a chance at the finals. In the $11 bracket, we still have a few weeks to go before we are down to the sweet 16. There is plenty of cash up for grabs in that one, so good look to all the RG members in taking down the big dance!
