Top CFB DFS Picks & Fantasy Pick’em Plays for Week 0

Tommy Mellott: We only have a handful of games for Week 0, so buckle down for some new names and faces! We actually have a game where an FCS team (Montana State) is comfortably favored over an FBS team (New Mexico), but that will happen when a top-end FCS team faces off against one of the worst FBS squads. It sounds like Mellott is going to be the clear QB1 for Montana State, and this is a team that loves to run the football. He has dual-threat upside and is a great quarterback play for Week 0.

Jamal Haynes: There are not a lot of great running back plays this week, but Haynes projects as one of the better options on the board. He should operate as the clear RB1 for Georgia Tech in a game that is projected to be competitive. The FSU/GT matchup is the premier game on the slate. Haynes is coming off a 1,000+ yard rushing season in 2023, and the odds are high that he will get there again this season. Despite the tough matchup, he’s a fine option.

Malik Benson: We have a lot of unknowns in the Florida State offense with all the changes they have on their roster. However, there will be an opportunity for a high-end wide receiver option to emerge with last year’s top options, Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson, both on NFL rosters now. Benson seems to be the most likely player to step into that role, and he’s an intriguing risk/reward option for the season’s opening week.
