Colts vs. 49ers Prop Bets for Sunday Night Football

The Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers will battle on Sunday Night Football at Heinz Field. Though both of these teams have postseason hopes, this primetime matchup is likely a preview of two teams that will miss the playoffs in 2021. After heavy line movement throughout the week, the value on the side and the total has been reduced significantly compared to its opening market price. Instead of forcing action on saturated markets, bettors may find better value on some player props this evening.

Let’s take a deeper look at the matchup to see where bettors can find value at sportsbooks in this contest.

Colts vs. 49ers Player Props

Jimmy Garoppolo u205.5 passing yards (-110)

Jimmy Garoppolo has twice thrown for under 200 yards in a game this season, and neither contest was played in what has been referred to by the local media as a “bomb cyclone.’‘ Garoppolo will be facing one of the weakest secondary units in the league, which likely has this line partially inflated. Bettors should not be fooled. Take the under on this prop.

Carson Wentz u202.5 passing yards (-110)

Similar to Garoppolo’s passing yardage number, this line is likely inappropriately inflated. Over the first three weeks of the campaign, Wentz averaged only 230.7 passing yards. Other than exploding for 402 passing yards against an atrocious Baltimore Ravens secondary, Wentz has not topped 251 yards in any game this season. As mentioned above, the awful weather forecasted for tonight’s contest is likely worth subtracting 50 yards off of any quarterback passing yards projections tonight. The Colts also have an opportunity to play with a lead in this one, which could further limit Wentz’s passing opportunities. Take the under here as well.

Deebo Samuel o3.5 rushing yards (-110)

If there is one player who is unlikely to have his counting stats impacted much tonight by the weather, it is Deebo Samuel. San Francisco runs quite a few manufactured plays where Samuel is the clear number one option on a passing play. They also have the option to use his elite speed to put him in motion pre-snap and get him the ball in open space. On a night in which both teams could call 30 run plays, it is more likely than not that at least one of those designed plays is an end around for Samuel that goes for positive yardage. This almost feels like a steal at its current market price.

There is not a single player for tonight’s game with a heavy line to score a touchdown. For bettors, this creates an opportunity to bet on multiple players at plus-money, needing to hit only 50 percent of their wagers to take home a profit. Here are our best options to get in the end zone this evening.

Elijah Mitchell – Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+180)

Elijah Mitchell should be the unquestioned leader in the backfield tonight. Running behind an outstanding offensive line, Mitchell should see 20-plus carries, each of which has the potential to go for a big gain or a breakaway touchdown. Mitchell had over 100 yards on the ground and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions. He had 19 touches against the Philadelphia Eagles in a run-heavy game script. Mitchell still had 11 touches against the Arizona Cardinals in an unfavorable game script. On the goal line, expect Mitchell to get at least one or two chances to find pay dirt tonight.

Jonathan Taylor – Any Time Touchdown Scorer (+105)

Jonathan Taylor does not have the benefit of an elite offensive line creating many open running lanes for him. However, he does have a tremendous amount of talent and should be fed the ball at least 20 times in this contest. Taylor has multiple touchdowns in back-to-back weeks entering play, and has at least one touchdown in three straight contests. Bettors should expect to see him celebrating six points once again on Sunday Night Football.
