On Wednesday evening, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks will travel to Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks. In this matchup, Dallas will be without Kristaps Porzingis, who remains in health and safety protocols. New York has already ruled out Derrick Rose, and has listed both Nerlens Noel and Kemba Walker as questionable ahead of tip-off. Oddsmakers are anticipating a tightly-contested affair in this one, pricing Dallas as 2-point road favorites on the spread at online sportsbooks.

Dallas Mavericks

Per Cleaning the Glass, when Kristaps Porzingis has been off of the floor this season, Dallas ranks in the 63rd percentile in offensive efficiency and the 68th percentile in defensive efficiency. Over their last 10 games, the Mavericks rank 3rd in the NBA in Net Rating, having outscored their opponents by 10.3 points per 100 possessions. Since the beginning of January, this group has collected impressive victories against the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls. Dallas has been one of the best teams in basketball in recent weeks. It is surprising to see them open near a pick’em price for this contest.

New York Knicks

Whereas there are a lot of positives to discuss surrounding the Mavericks, the same cannot be said regarding the Knicks. On the season, New York ranks 22nd in Net Rating, having been outscored by 1.3 points per 100 possessions. The Knicks have not been much better of late, ranking 18th in Net Rating over their last 10 contests. Outside of a dramatic come-from-behind victory against the Boston Celtics last Thursday, New York has few notable victories through the first half of the campaign.

Picks and Prediction

Per EdgHouse, Dallas is 7-1-1 ATS since Christmas Day. In that span, the Mavericks’ only loss in that span came on a buzzer-beater three-pointer on the road against the Sacramento Kings. New York is only 9-12 ATS at home this year overall and 1-4 ATS when priced as a home underdog. Bettors should not struggle to see which team is worth a wager in this one. Take Dallas at the Garden on Wednesday.

Mavericks vs. Knicks Props

If looking to attack the player prop market in this one instead of trusting Dallas on the road, there is value to be found on a couple of players. Here two of my favorite NBA props at Underdog Fantasy.

Luka Doncic o25.5 points (-105)

Per EdgHouse, Luka Doncic has eclipsed this number in 7 of his 12 games played since November 23. The Knicks rank 23rd in the league in defensive efficiency when playing at home this year, and only 16th in defensive efficiency over their last three contests. Doncic should find plenty of easy scoring opportunities this evening. Take the over here.

Julius Randle o9.5 rebounds (-110)

The market is inexplicably cold on Julius Randle’s rebound props of late. Randle has struggled mightily on the offensive end of the floor in recent weeks, but he is averaging double-digit rebound per game this season, and has eclipsed this number in six of his last seven trips to the floor, with his lone miss being a game in which he collected eight rebounds. The Mavericks rank 16th in the NBA this season in rebounding percentage. Randle should be able to get to this number once again on Wednesday.
