Denver Nuggets vs. New Orleans Pelicans Same Game Parlay Picks

Happy Hump Day, everyone! Many of you probably know me from my Same Game Parlay columns for primetime football games—well, I’m crossing the SGP bridge over to the NBA now, as well! Tonight we have a battle in the bayou between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Denver Nuggets. There’s a lot of statistical boxes to check, and plenty of opportunities for props.
For anyone not familiar, a Same Game Parlay basically just means a parlay consisting of multiple correlated wagers from one specific game. It provides bettors with good options to bet a game—and piece together props into a parlay within that game—beyond just the standard spread, moneyline, and over/under totals.

SGPs have become one of the most popular options in sports betting, and we’ve been building parlays through PointsBet all year. So, without further ado, it brings me great excitement to share my first NBA SGP of the season!

Nuggets vs. Pelicans Same Game Parlay

Total Odds (5 Legs): +508

Pick Your Own Spread: Denver Nuggets +4.5 (-270)

The Nuggets are -2 favorites this evening, which is tempting in and of itself. But I always give myself a good insurance buffer when I’m assembling Same Game Parlays, just like when I put together teasers. On paper, the Nugs are by far a better overall team than New Orleans, before and after the injury bug bit Denver. But the Nuggets have lost eight of their last ten games, and have demonstrated that no lead is safe when reigning MVP Nikola Jokic hits the bench to rest. So, while I think Denver should win this game, I’m taking some padding in case they blow it. The Nugs are 4-8 on the road, and the Pels are 5-5 over their last ten games. Play it safe and take what should be an easy green.

Alternate Totals: OVER 210.5 (-170)

Just like with spreads, I much prefer picking my own over/under totals when creating in-game parlays. PointsBet provides me with these kinds of options, so I’m not stuck sweating out the final score at the end of regulation. The average total score in Denver’s last eight games has been 219.1, almost identical to the 219.8 average total points in Pelicans’ games during that span. New Orleans averages 106.4 points per home game on the season, while surrendering 110.5 points. Meanwhile, Denver averages 103.6 points per away game, while surrendering an average of 109 points. Thus, 210 total points is a safe floor for an OVER bet.

Jokic 10+ Rebounds (-240) & Valanciunas 10+ Rebounds (-200)

We all know how awesome Jokic has been over the past few seasons—he never ceases to amaze us with his triple-double stat-racking. But my man Big V is also a beast, and he has been collecting double-digit rebounds game in and game out in the absence of Zion Williamson. In what should be a close game, I expect Jokic and Valanciunas to hit the over on their respective average playing times of 32.6 minutes and 31 minutes. That means they’ll easily hit 10 boards each, barring injury or a sudden defensive nosedive landing either into foul trouble (both are doubtful—Jokic seems to be well-recovered from his wrist injury, and Big V has the only foul-out of the season between the two). These guys are No. 2 and No. 4 in rebounds per game (Jokic: 13.5; Valanciunas: 12) and No. 1 and No. 3 in contested boards per game (Jokic: 6.9; Valanciunas: 5.3). They always get up against fellow stud bigs, so I’m all over both these props. Here’s all you need to know: Jokic has cleared 10 boards in 15 of 18 starts this campaign, while Big V has reached double-digits in boards in 20 of his 26 games.

Pick Your Own Player Points: Brandon Ingram 20+ Points (-270)

Another player who has benefited in a major way from Zion’s absence is Ingram, who regularly logs minutes in the mid-to-high 30s and averages over 19 field goal attempts per game. He dropped a 40-burger on the Mavericks on Sunday, and has cleared 20 points in six of his last seven games. In what should be a close game, with his volume, usage, playmaking ability, and hot shooting, I love Ingram’s chances of reaching 20 points this evening. Let’s cross our fingers, and have some fun with our Wednesday night SGP!
