DFS Tournament Report: November 4th

The two biggest GPPs of the young NBA season took place Wednesday night with both DraftKings and FanDuel running $1M guaranteed contests. Here’s a quick recap of how the night went down…

DraftKings $1M Return to the Court ($20 entry)

Early on it was the legendary naapstermaan (#106 in RG’s TPOY race) taking the lead with a lineup that included Isaiah Thomas, Paul George, and John Wall. That lead would not last long as ddub923 would move into the top spot with a line up that included the aforementioned Thomas and George as well as Russell Westbrook and a big night from the youngster T.J. McConnell.

Here is how the standings looked at 10 p.m. ET with minutes remaining in parentheses and ddub923’s roster:

1. ddub923 299.25 (21) Thomas-Turner-Crowder-Hill-Lopez-McConnell-George-Westbrook
2. TheClone 295.25 (28)
3. AgentScully 295 (33)
4. ddub923 294.75 (29)
5. jt_12 292.75 (35)

USaki2melSaki2U would ride strong games from Evan Fournier, DeMar DeRozan, Brook Lopez, and the Thunder tandem of Westbrook and Durant into the lead and it would be one he would hold until the very last game tipped off. ManOfMayhem, on the strength of Damian Lillard 46 fpt game would move into the lead and it would surprisingly hold up as no one with the likes of Stephen Curry or Blake Griffin was able to pass the front runner. He had to hold off brpunkrmax (#255 in RG’s TPOY race), twoshae (#412 in RG’s TPOY race), and scott5503 but the final game would end with ManOfMayhem securing the $100,000 top prize!

Final Standings:

1. ManofMayhem 330.5, $100,000
2. USaki2melSaki2U 330, $60,000
3. brpunkrmax 328.5, $40,000
4. twoshae 327.25, $15,000
4. scott5503 327.25, $15,000

FanDuel $1M MEGA Slam ($25 entry fee)

The same could not be said in FanDuel’s MEGA Slam where the leader heading into the final game of the night would not be able to survive the Warriors-Clippers scoring onslaught. The early leader would be thirdsplashbro behind a lineup that included John Wall and Paul George but like most early leads that would quickly falter as huggybear420 would take the top spot with help from the monster Evan Fournier game.

Here is how the standings looked at 10 p.m. ET with quarters remaining in parentheses and huggybear420’s roster:

1. huggybear420 302.3 (3) Wall-Dellavedova-Beal-Fournier-George-Leonard-LMA-Sullinger-Hill
2. kingerw 300.5 (6)
3. dangl96 300.3 (4)
4-5. ganondorf 299.1 (11)

Top DFS player ganondorf was lurking but he’d never be able to move into the top spot and would eventually have to settle for two 12th place finishes. It was qrjackso who held the lead as the Warriors-Clippers game moved into the second half. His Westbrook-McConnell-Fournier-Thornton-James-Durant-Porzingis-Grant-Monroe lineup had a sweat though and tbarrettpierce1020 already had a strong lineup going with Thomas, Brad Beal, and Fournier. A 44 fpt performance from Blake Griffin was to be expected but it would be the 32.3 fpts he got from Harrison Barnes that would make the difference as he moved into the lead late in the night and held off strong finishes from bigredmachine92123 and top DFS player bcalicore to take down the $100,000 top prize!

Final Standings:

1. tbarrettpierce1020 342.10, $100,000
2. bigredmachine92123 338.20, $50,000
3. bcalicore 337.90, $30,000
4. qrjackso 337.80, $20,000
5. jjgold30 337.20, $15,000
