FanDuel Announces 2015 World Fantasy Baseball Championship

FanDuel released the details of their premier baseball live final event on Monday, announcing the $4 Million World Fantasy Baseball Championship, to be held live in Vegas at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on August 22nd. A total of 90 finalists will compete for a grand prize of $1,000,000, with a total of $4,000,000 handed out to the field at large.

The payout structure features the seven-digit top prize, but also boasts a $500,000 second prize, with third and fourth place finishers walking away with over $200,000. The smallest payout is $10,000, which is a decent consolation prize considering the luxury accommodations. The prize pool is one million dollars richer than the one from last year, which saw RG contributor Dave “CheeseIsGood” Potts take down the top prize.

Gamers will be eligible for up to four entries in the event, with qualifiers kicking off on Monday. With 90 seats to fill, you can expect a summer loaded with qualifiers and super qualifiers to get the field set for this huge event in late August. The first announced qualifier will be at the $200 price point, but FanDuel usually runs qualifiers for live events ranging from $2 to $535, and we can probably expect the same this time around.

One of the key elements to a successful and memorable live final is the atmosphere of the event, and it appears FanDuel has something hidden up their sleeve when it comes to the WFBC. The FanDuel website boasts of a “special celebrity-athlete host” as an attendee of the live final to help crown the winner when all is said and done. And with the event spanning three nights at a luxurious resort in Vegas, the food, drink and parties should be fantastic as well.

A FanDuel representative has posted the details of the WFBC on our forums, along with an NFL Draft contest to earn a seat in a qualifier event.
