2023 Super Bowl Props: How to Bet on A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith Player Props
What kind of performances can we expect in the Super Bowl from A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Quez Watkins? Follow along as our NFL betting expert, Nick Galaida, breaks down his three favorite wide receiver NFL prop bets for Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles
On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will play Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona. As of this writing, the total is priced at over/under 50.5 points, suggesting that bettors could be in for a shootout in the final game of the NFL season. In a high-scoring affair, wide receivers are likely to be busy. Below, we have three receiving props worth considering for this weekend!
Super Bowl Props: Wide Receiver Picks
- A.J. Brown o70.5 receiving yards
- DeVonta Smith o4.5 receptions
- Quez Watkins o8.5 receiving yards – Longest reception
A.J. Brown o70.5 receiving yards (-115), PointsBet
In 19 games this season, A.J. Brown has gone over this number only nine times, but when he has gone over it, he has often eclipsed the number by a wide margin. Brown has nine games with 85+ receiving yards this season, eight games with 95+ receiving yards, and five games in which he has gone over the century mark. Despite relatively low output thus far in the postseason, it has not been due to a lack of effort or effectiveness on Brown’s side. Jalen Hurts has missed him wide open on multiple deep pass attempts, and blowout game scripts have allowed the Eagles to take their foot off of the gas pedal late in the second half in recent weeks. In the Super Bowl, bettors should expect a much more competitive affair, and for Brown to have an extremely productive day at the office.
DeVonta Smith o4.5 receptions (-150), DraftKings
There are some bettors who refuse to drink juice in any situation, and there are other bettors who understand how to evaluate odds against their win probability. According to props.cash DeVonta Smith has eclipsed this market number in 14 of 19 games played this season, with one of those misses being in the NFC championship game, when the Eagles completely abandoned the passing game after taking a sizable early lead. Only twice in 19 games has Smith recorded fewer than four receptions, and only once since the middle of November has Smith received fewer than eight targets. This Philadelphia offense will have opportunities against a beatable Kansas City secondary unit on Sunday. The math makes sense here- take the over and live with the result.
Quez Watkins o8.5 receiving yards – Longest Reception (-114), FanDuel
This is a boom or bust play, with a strong possibility that it’s a bust. Still, it is difficult to pass on this opportunity, given the near certainty that this play cashes if Watkins has even one catch in the Super Bowl. Per Pro Football Focus, Watkins had an average depth of target of 10.1 yards this fall, which has only increased in recent weeks in a smaller role. Last week against the 49ers, Watkins was targeted once, with a depth of 33 yards. Watkins has a reception in only 11 games this season, but his longest reception was nine yards or more in nine of those contests. If choosing to play Watkins in some fashion this weekend, this is the smart way to invest.
