Primetime Parlay: Jaguars vs. Jets Same Game Parlay Picks

Jaguars vs Jets Same Game Parlay

ScoresAndOdds’ ParlayIQ tool simulates NFL contests thousands of times using RotoGrinders’ NFL Statistical Projections. Along with the simulations, we will examine stats, roster news, trends, player props, and betting odds across sports betting sites to find the best price for our same-game parlay ticket. For this article, we build a Thursday Night Football same-game parlay for the Jaguars vs Jets.

The Jets and Jaguars are somehow playing a meaningful football game in Week 16. Color me shocked. Both teams desperately need a win to stay in contention for a playoff spot. The Jets continue to fall on some bad injury luck while the Jaguars are coming off of an unbelievable comeback win against the Dallas Cowboys. The Jets need to turn around a three-game losing streak to give themselves a chance to regain control of a wild card spot. This could be a good one. Let’s build a same-game parlay ticket for Thursday Night Football.

Same Game Parlay for Jaguars vs. Jets

FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Jets as 1.5-point favorites at home against the Jaguars. Per SAO, more than 70% of betting tickets and handle sit on the Jaguars side. The line bounced back and forth between both teams being favorites throughout the week.

The implied game total rests at a very low 37.5 points. Per Kevin Roth, the weather looks pretty atrocious with temperatures in the 40s, winds steadily between 10-15 MPH and steady rain. Passing games will be impacted greatly as both teams might struggled to move the ball through the air.

Another reason why the Jets might struggle to move the ball through the air is that Zach Wilson is starting again. Mike White remains out with a bad rib injury and the Jets’ playoff aspirations seem to lie in the hands of the second year quarterback. Wilson continues to be terribly inaccurate, completing only 18 of 35 passes last week against a beatable Lions’ defense.

Along with Mike White, Denzel Mims is out with a concussion. Corey Davis is officially off of the injury report while Zonovan Knight was a late add to the report with an ankle injury. Knight practiced all week so his addition is very much a concern.

The Jaguars lost Cam Robinson for the season to a torn meniscus. Edge rusher, Travon Walker is out with an ankle injury and while Trevor Lawrence is questionable with a toe, he got in limited practices all week and is expected to play.

Update – 4:30 PM EST – Quinnen Williams is active for tonight’s game. Zonovan Knight is also active for the Jets.

This game might get sloppy despite the ramifications associated with the result. Mother Nature seems to be interested in wreaking havoc this week around the NFL and plans to start on Thursday night. Let’s build a same-game parlay ticket to sweat along with the Thursday Night Football contest.

Same Game Parlay Picks – Jaguars & Jets Props

Trevor Lawrence Under 212.5 Passing Yards

The weather plays a big impact in my selecting the first prop on our ticket. While Trevor Lawrence has been on a tear as of late, the Jets’ defense coupled with the bad weather gives me great pause with the Jaguars’ offense.

ParlayIQ likes Lawrence to stay below this prop 51% of the time. I don’t feel great about that, however, I am not sure our simulations are factoring in the weather enough. For that reason, I am giving this one a bump.

On a short week, with a small injury, and in a bad weather environment, I want to sell Trevor Lawrence continuing his hot play. We open our ticket with this under.

Evan Engram Under 40.5 Receiving Yards

If we take the under on Lawrence’s passing yards, then ParlayIQ loves the under on the receiving total for Evan Engram. Engram’s under is found in 67% of simulations that have Lawrence not hitting his passing total.

ParlayIQ is very bearish on the entire Jaguars’ passing game. Evan Engram just happens to be the most liked in our simulations. Nervously, Engram has double-digit targets over his past couple of games. However, with all of the weapons the Jaguars have on offense, I don’t suspect he will be heavily targeted routinely. When we add the weather, this second leg makes plenty of sense.

New York Jets Moneyline

So, I am a believer that the Jaguars’ offense is going to struggle. Simultaneously, I think the Jets’ offense is also going to struggle. However, the Jets’ defense is just too good and too talented.

Playing at home in bad weather in a sloppy game, the Jets need this win to keep their hopes alive. The offense will struggle to put points on the board but I believe that the defense is going to show up and stifle the Jaguars enough to bring a victory to New York.

ParlayIQ likes linking the Jets ML with our aforementioned props to no surprise. I am going to make this a pro-green parlay and link the Jets’ victory to our ticket.

Travis Etienne Under 14.5 Receiving Yards

Finally, Travis Etienne displayed immense pass-catching ability and versatility in college. So far for the Jaguars, though, his role seems to be cemented as a runner.

Etienne will likely be used often as the weather is going to be pretty horrendous. That said, I suspect the continued trend of Etienne being ignore in the passing game is going to continue. The Jets are going to get plenty of pressure on Lawrence throughout the game. While that could point towards dump-off passes, I think the Jets are going to force the Jaguars to focus on protection. I am going to roll with the under here to make it a full Jaguars’ sell.
