Jets vs. Steelers Same Game Parlay Picks for Today

The Jets found a way to be newsworthy throughout the week, as they made a move for Davante Adams. Adams rejoins Aaron Rodgers and miraculously found a healed hamstring. The Steelers were not content to step aside of the sports news cycle, as they made a change to Russell Wilson at quarterback. Wilson nursed a calf injury back to health, while Justin Fields led the Steelers to a 4-2 record. The broadcast will have plenty to talk about on Sunday night. Let’s break down the odds, injuries, and key stats before placing our bet.

Jets vs. Steelers Same Game Parlay Preview

ScoresAndOdds reports that the Jets received much of the betting action throughout the week. The Steelers opened as short favorites at home, but the betting spread moved all the way to -2 on DraftKings Sportsbook in the Jets’ favor. The news about Davante Adams after a solid offensive showing could have been the catalyst. Yet the bettors responsible for the line change must have neglected the Jets’ play in the trenches against the Bills.

Unsurprisingly, the implied game total is pretty low for a game featuring strong defenses. More than 60% of betting action found the over throughout the week, moving the total a full 2 points. Davante Adams could be the culprit again, as bettors hope Adams ignites a shootout.

Yet where are the points going to come from? Russell Wilson? In 15 games for the Broncos in 2023, Wilson only compiled 3,000 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Wilson redefined game manager for a losing offense. Pittsburgh might be the only offense content to manage the game and let the defense take over. Thus far, that strategy has worked in 2024.

Much will be made of the Steelers’ passing defense and pass rush. Thus far, PIttsburgh ranks in the middle of the pack in yards per pass attempt and sack percentage. Where the Steelers are strong is stopping the run. The Steelers allow a measly 3.6 yards per rush attempt on defense. They force teams to be one-dimensional. Bad news for the Jets!

Yes, the Jets added Davante Adams. But Davante Adams does not block. The Jets’ offensive line allowed worse than 7% sacks over the last few weeks. Aaron Rodgers is under siege throughout football games. While Davante Adams is a familiar target and knows the nuances of Rodgers’ game, the Steelers will be coming after the veteran quarterback all night in Pittsburgh. The Jets will look to feed their new weapon. Will that be enough?

The Jets were exposed on Monday night by a guy named Ray Davis. While you look that up, I’ll remind you what the Steelers want to do. The Steelers want to run the football and win the field position game. Najee Harris must be licking his chops against this Jets’ rushing defense. They allowed 4.5 yards per carry last week, so Mike Tomlin will be content to sign up for that 20+ times on Sunday night.

Let’s take a look at the menu of props on DraftKings and build a same game parlay for Sunday Night Football.

Same Game Parlay Picks for Jets vs. Steelers

Najee Harris Over 54.5 Rushing Yards

Harris will be the beneficiary of a cushy matchup on Sunday night. The Jets could not stifle the Buffalo running game that used a third-string running back. Najee Harris is not that explosive, but 4-5 yards per rush would do just fine. Harris remains the most reliable option for Pittsburgh.

I cannot imagine a switch to Russell Wilson is to open up the offense and throw the ball more. Instead, Tomlin wants to play mistake-free football. While Wilson did not have a career year in Denver in 2023, he protected the football. Harris goes over tonight.

Davante Adams Over 4.5 Receptions

This is about as narrative as narrative gets. Adams wanted to reunite with Aaron Rodgers. The Jets wanted to make the move for Rodgers. Rodgers will be elated for the return of his teammate. Adams is going to get the football.

Adams will likely be comfortable enough with the offensive game plan to be involved. If Rodgers is calling plays at the line, nobody is more familiar with what Rodgers wants to do than Adams. Adams will be used to these adjustments.

Furthermore, nobody will be more comfortable with the Rodgers’ back-shoulder throw than Adams. Adams knows where Rodgers wants to put the football and will be able to work with that timing.

I am nervous about the yardage, but I think the Jets’ offense is going to prioritize Adams getting the football. Against a team that stops the run, the Jets will have to pass.

George Pickens Under 4.5 Receptions

George Pickens will not be benefited by Russell Wilson starting for the Steelers. Wilson did not elevate his best pass-catchers in Denver. I am not going to assume he will do anything different in Pittsburgh.

Do I think Pittsburgh will look to Pickens more as the most explosive weapon on the field? Yes. The Jets, though, shut down receivers on the outside. I think Pickens is just running into a bad luck spot with his new quarterback, and room in the defense will be at a premium.

Maybe next weekend Pickens will get there, but not against this passing defense. Take the under.
