Happy Wednesday! We’ve got an eight-game main slate to look at tonight, but let’s take a quick peek at this pitching heavy early 4-gamer to kick things off. I’ll be back in a few hours with the Main Slate breakdown.

EARLY SLATE OVERVIEW

A TRIO OF ACES

Gerrit Cole at Tigers
Carlos Carrasco at Rays
Blake Snell vs Indians

We’ve got three of the best pitchers in the league on the mound today, and there is not much we can do to realistically separate them. Cole is the highest strikeout pitcher overall, but since the All-Star Break, it’s Blake Snell who laps the field with his 37.7% K rate. Any way you slice these numbers, all three of these guys are great:

Cole 2018 – 34.6% K, 8.1% BB, 2.86 ERA, 2.91 SIERA
Snell 2018 – 30.4% K, 8.8% K, 2.06 ERA, 3.38 SIERA
Carrasco 2018 – 29.3% K, 5% BB, 3.41 ERA, 3.02 SIERA

Cole 2nd Half – 33.2% K, 6.3% BB, 3.67 ERA, 2.83 SIERA
Snell 2nd Half – 37.7% K, 5.1% BB, 1.42 ERA, 2.29 SIERA
Carrasco 2nd Half – 33.6% K, 4.2% BB, 2.31 ERA, 2.45 SIERA
