On Tuesday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Philadelphia 76ers will battle at the Wells Fargo Center. The Bucks enter play tonight having lost back-to-back contests and are in the midst of a five-game road trip. The 76ers have won six of their previous seven games, but will be on a back-to-back after losing to the New York Knicks last night. Oddsmakers anticipate Milwaukee taking advantage of Philadelphia’s injury woes, pricing the Bucks as 5.5-point road favorites on the spread.
Let’s take a closer look at Bucks vs. Sixers odds along with some NBA betting tips for tonight’s matchup on TNT.
Milwaukee Bucks (-5.5)
Milwaukee has lost five of their last six games, with their lone win during that stretch coming against the hapless Detroit Pistons. Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a one-man-show, averaging 27.3 points, 11.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks—each of which lead the team. Khris Middleton is once again listed as out tonight on the official injury report, as are Brookl Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo.
The Bucks have been primarily using a six-man rotation featuring Antetokounmpo, Pat Connaughton, Grayson Allen, George Hill, Bobby Portis, and Jrue Holiday in Middleton’s absence. Semi Ojeleye and Jordan Nwora have also seen regular minutes, but have been clear seventh- and eighth-men in the rotation—used only briefly to get some rest for the main contributors on the roster.
Milwaukee’s biggest advantage in this contest is the schedule. The Bucks have not played on a back-to-back during the month of November, and only had to travel from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia for tonight’s action. Though the Bucks will be missing some key guys, the guys that they do have should be rested and ready to go in this one.
Philadelphia 76ers (+5.5)
Philadelphia was riding a six-game winning streak prior to last night’s loss to the Knicks. However, Joel Embiid played in five of those six games. Embiid is out for tonight’s contest due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Tobias Harris is also likely to be out once again tonight.
Yesterday, Philadelphia played Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey, Furkan Korkmaz, and Andre Drummond for 38 minutes or more. Danny Green totaled 30 minutes as the fifth member of the starting rotation. Only Georges Niang and Shake Milton saw more than five minutes of action off of the bench. Head Coach Doc Rivers explained that he is likely to spread out the minutes more evenly against Milwaukee on the latter half of a back-to-back. However, adding additional players into the rotation is not a magic elixir for the difficulties that this team will face tonight.
Curry, Maxey, Korkmaz, and Drummond are each going to be dealing with tired legs tonight after an extensive workload yesterday. The players who Rivers indicated will be included in the rotation tonight are not high-quality NBA options. Either the 76ers are going to need their starters to cover the vast majority of minutes once again this evening, or there will be a paucity of talent on the floor for Philadelphia. Neither option is a winning recipe.
Bucks vs. 76ers Picks
Though Milwaukee should win tonight, based on their scheduling advantage and the fact that they will have Jrue Holiday in the lineup—it is a risk to ask them to cover six points, considering that they have only one win since October 25. Instead, bettors should opt for a play on the under this evening at the Wells Fargo Center. Both teams are missing some of their best offensive weapons. Tired legs and a condensed rotation should lead to a slower pace from Philadelphia. The 76ers already play at the slowest pace in the NBA, measured by their first 11 games of the year. A slower pace in this one is going to make it very difficult for this game to hit the 220s. Take the under.
PICK: Under 218 (-110)
