MLB $400K Tuesday Super Fastball Review: Tuesday, April 25th

The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single-entry lineups and professionals for large slate DraftKings GPPs.

This week, we looked at the $400K Tuesday Super Fastball [$50K to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $33 and maximum entry limit of 150 lineups per person.

Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game

DollarBillW played a variety of stacks and a wide berth of teams, but differentiated himself by fading Clayton Kershaw completely. This strategy ended up benefiting DBW as Kershaw only nearly reached an average 2.0x pts/k$ and had a healthy amount of J.C. Ramirez, which allowed him to save a ton of salary for the bats. He targeted the top teams on the slate (COL, WAS, ARI) and was able to secure the first place finish with a stack featuring a four WAS, three DET, and a wild Paul Goldschmidt. As he took home the $50k, we’ll give him a little leeway on not putting up another lineup inside the top-100.

DraftCheat headlined his ownership with J.C. Ramirez, at a paltry $4200, who was favored against Oakland (projected to put up only four runs). He struck-out seven batters through seven and offered a high return across all 150 lineups. DraftCheat concentrated on a number of high scoring offenses with his savings on salary: Diamondbacks (5.3 proj runs), Twins (4.8 proj runs), Mariners (4.8 proj runs), and Nationals (5.4 proj runs). As his ownerships were very concentrated, he was able to cash at a rate of 70.7% while putting nine lineups inside the top-100 (with a 3rd place and 15th place finishes).

SaahilSud is known for going heavy on exposures and taking calculated risks, and this slate wasn’t much different. Although he wasn’t as heavy on teams as DraftCheat, he saw much of the ARI, MIL, KC, SEA, and WAS love. However, with a significant of spending in Clayton Kershaw, Saahil took larger risks on cheaper stacks such as the Rangers, Athletics, and Padres (all of whom didn’t perform). Despite a few misses on contrarian stacks, he featured a 44.0% cash rate and saw a handful of deep finishes. His shining star on the day was taking down 2nd place for $25,000 with a five-man ARI and singles stack.

Single-Entry Winner of the Game

Hickerson64 and single-entry players took a backseat to the pros on this slate as the sharp plays and chalk over-performed. Aside from the aforementioned three up top, there was a swathe of more names at the top of the leaderboard: rayofhope, moklovin, dinkpiece, and ThatStunna. In order to take the top single-entry lineup down, hickerson relied on a lot of chalk and mini-stacks to tie for 24th. He featured three from ARI, three from WAS, and two from KC.
