MLB $500K Super Fastball Review: Tuesday, June 21st

The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for large slate and massive prize pool GPPs.

Today we looked at the $500K Super Fastball [$100K to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $33.

Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game

Dahladino owned an 83% ownership stake of Corey Kluber and Chris Sale between all 160 lineups which led him to a 66.3% cash rate. His main team stacks of NYY and HOU may have not put up massive numbers for him, but the near 4x pitching performances and pieces of key COL, TX, and CIN allowed him to book a 10th place finish with a handful more in the top-100.

Papagates followed the same route but took it to the extreme, rostering the Kluber/Sale combo in 89% of lineups. His relentless pursuit of HOU, CIN, and SD personnel, which were relatively faded, smeared his name across the leaderboard, taking down a 2nd and 2× 4th place finishes (39 of the top-100 place finishes were from him!). He absolutely smashed a majority of his high ownership players and boasted a cash rate of 86.8%.

TheClone once again appears in these articles as he has once again taken down a top spot in a major GPP. Contrary to the previous pro’s however, he spread his ownership over a wide range of value evenly and landed a 3rd place finish. Due to the nature of diversifying, he only posted a 26% cash rate, but made it count with his OAK/PHI lineup in a top spot. Fun Fact: He had ownership of players from every team (ATL: 1%, PIT: 2%, but the next lowest was MIL at 9% total player ownership).

Single-Entry Winner of the Game

Willyk272 managed to take down 1st place by stacking all his batters from the PHI/MIN game and hitting on pitching. As the game had one of the lower totals on the day and carried a slight negative park factor, it went severely overlooked by the field. It ended up totaling 24 runs with not one of his batters was over 3% owned.

Single-Entry vs. Dahladino/Papagates/TheClone

Out of 17,415 entries in the Super Fastball, 3264 of those entries (18.7%) were entered courtesy of players using a single bullet. The table below compares the exposures of those single entries to the exposures of Dahladino, Papagates, TheClone, and 40 other top professionals picked off of RotoGrinders’ leaderboard:
