MLB Big Events Breakdown: JMToWin Headed To Atlantis!

Tuesday night was full of qualifiers and big GPP’s, but this week also marks the end of the DraftKings’ $300,000 Punch Out, which concluded with a heads-up final last night. One of our members was involved in the match-up, and several other members also had big night’s in the various Q’s and GPP’s across the industry. Up-and-comer JMToWin took down a seat in the WBC in Atlantis, while MLB leader BirdWings continued his monster year with a victory in the $60K Perfect Game. Let’s get into the breakdowns!

DraftKings $300K Punch Out Final

The $300,000 Punch Out came to a head last night with RG member Moose285 taking on KenJR911 for the $100K prize. This one went back and forth early and things looked good for Moose when Julio Teheran got blown up by the Mets and was gone by the 3rd inning, but his hitters just weren’t able to keep up after Tanaka also got knocked around. Moose rostered the top overall producer in this match-up with Phil Hughes (31.7 DK points), but Sonny Gray but KenJR out of reach with a dominating performance against the Giants. Moose also was able to get a 20 FP game out of George Springer, but he was unfortunately matched by Scooter Gennett while Brooks Conrad (Moose’s second-basemen) finished with just 2 FP’s. Despite finishing as the runner up, Moose285 turned in gem after gem throughout this tournament and he deserves a ton of credit for getting this far in a field littered with most of the top names in the industry.

FanDuel $535 Qualifier

It’s a shame that he’s not listed as a member anymore because I would love to give him some props, but the infamous miggytoddbest took down last night’s $535 Q as the only member of the field to cross the 50 FP mark. Going with Sonny Gray on the hill was a great move with both Tanaka and Teheran turning in poor outings, as he tallied 18 FP’s and was the main reason he was able to take this thing down. His Red Sox mini-stack paid dividends and Michael Brantley came up huge with two doubles and a HR, which left him atop the leaderboard for a good chunk of the night. Anyone who has spent much time in the forums knows this name, and I genuinely hope the community gets to meet him in Vegas. RG’s own stlcardinals84 was the unfortunate 2nd place finisher last night, although he probably deserved better given the landmines were nearly impossible to avoid. He also went with Sonny Gray and received very solid production from the three Astros he rostered, but his Texas stack wasn’t able to produce and really cost him in the end. Had he been able to get even average production out of Andrus or Rios, he could very well have jumped into 1st. BW5126, texas989, lovesbases, shanksalot and chitown_frenze also finished in the top ten.

DraftKings Fantasy Baseball Championship Qualifier #23

JMToWin is on an absolute tear right now, as he’s already secured two DSBC seats and now adds an Atlantis seat to his name. Pitching was the big difference for him, as he somehow avoided the bevy of awful SP performances and rolled out Phil Hughes and Sonny Gray, who both turned in great efforts. George Springer and J.D. Martinez were able to do just enough offensively to put him over the hump. Jordanh415 finished in 4th place despite getting stuck with a negative FP game from Julio Teheran, but was able to make up for it by finishing with six hitters in double figures. OldOwl, SamENole, icehole3, tommyg1979 and texas989 also turned in top ten finishes.

DraftKings $60K Perfect Game

BirdWings took down the Perfect Game in style, finishing almost 16 points higher then 2nd place. Sonny Gray and Phil Hughes were basically the perfect SP combination, and 20+ FP nights from Springer, Gennett and Altuve put him well ahead of the pack. Miller_time finished in 3rd place and could have done considerably more damage without the -6.3 FP game from Teheran. Big games from Gennett, Blackmon, Ozuna and Polanco more then made up for what could have been a disaster after Teheran’s awful performance in a good match-up. DirtyGirl15 was the only other member in the top ten, finishing 4th.

FanDuel $50K Monster

Chitown_frenze was tops among RG members in Tuesday’s Monster, finishing in a tie for 3rd place. He rolled out Sonny Gray with an Astros stack, and also hit on Billy Hamilton in the 2nd game of the Reds double-header with the Cubs. Stlcardinals84 finished in 5th place with his Rangers/Astros stack (including Sonny Gray), while texas989 and lovesbases were also in the top ten.
