MLB Big Events: JoeyEngland Takes Down A DFBC Seat!
We’re getting into the dog days of summer, but there is still plenty of money to be made in daily fantasy baseball and quite a few of our members had big showings last night. The DraftKings $300,000 Punch Out got started last night, with the top 400 from last night moving onto Round 2, but that wasn’t the only big event on the block; both FanDuel and DraftStreet ran Q’s for their end-of-season MLB Championships, so let’s take a look at Tuesday’s big winners..
DraftKings $300,000 Punch Out

Unfortunately for those near the top of this leaderboard, Tuesday’s scores won’t carry over to Day 2, but at least they didn’t have to sweat advancing! Last night was strange to say the least, with basically every pitcher not named Clayton Kershaw and Jake Arrieta disappointing owners. A few underowned arms were successful (Jesse Hahn and Bartolo Colon), but the SP position was a disaster for the most part. If you were able to hit on Kershaw, Arrieta or Hahn, you put yourself in a very good spot to advance last night. Justin Morneau, Carlos Santana, Kyle Seager, J.D. Martinez, Gerardo Parra and Dioner Navarro all exceeded the 20 FP mark and pairing a player or two in that group with a productive pitcher basically guaranteed victory. Congratulations to all of our members that advanced and we wish you luck in Round Two!
FanDuel $535 Qualifier

Cheers to joeyengland98 on taking down last night’s DFBC Q and securing himself a seat in Vegas for the finals! If I’m remembering correctly, he was a finalist in the FanDuel Football Championship as well, so he’ll at least have an idea of what to expect (and how to handle the mix of partying and researching) with a live final. Joeyengland went with Jake Arrieta on the mound, who was on the verge of a perfect game in the 7th inning of last night’s Cubs/Reds match-up, but settled for a 7 inning, 9 strikeout performance (good for 18 FP’s). Carlos Santana, Ian Kinsler and Charlie Blackmon were the offensive difference makers which ultimately led him to a 1st place finish. JMtowin finished less then three FP’s out of first place with 16 FP’s from Jesse Hahn and a 6 RBI game from Justin Morneau, and dinkpiece (3rd place) was once again right on the verge of a DFBC seat. Swaglet, Glaze and ehafner also finished in the top ten, along with two other joeyengland98 entries.
DraftStreet DSBC Qualifier #27

Congratulations to Lowkey (aka BuntSingle on DS) on someone topping 100 FP’s on DraftStreet despite the numerous landmines at the SP positon and securing his shot at a $1,000,000 later this summer. He didn’t miss on much last night; Kershaw, Danny Duffy and Kenley Jansen were his three pitchers, and Jansen (a closer) was somehow able to outperform the combined scores of Tim Hudson, Scott Kazmir and C.J. Wilson. His bats were extremely impressive with Morneau, Kinsler, Blackmon, Peralta and Gomes all scoring at least 7.5 FP’s. JMToWin carried over his success on FanDuel into a 3rd place finish in this one, with GoodMR, TommyG1979 and another JMToWin also in the top ten.
FanDuel $65K Monster

Although he had to settle for 2nd place in the DFBC Q, JMtowin took down a cool $8K for his 1st place finish in last night’s Monster! Jesse Hahn shut down the Giants offense in six innings and registered 8 K’s and win to finish with 16 FP’s, and this lineup was a duplicate of his 2nd place DFBC entry. Bluestem89 finished in 2nd place with 20 FP’s from Clayton Kershaw and big offensive nights for Kyle Seager, Ian Kinsler and J.D. Martinez. Duel4gold, dinkpiece and 3putts also finished in the top ten.
