MLB Big Events: Naap, AP4Pres and tshirt Take Down Major Q's
Before we get into the breakdowns, big ups to naapstermaan (DK), AP4Pres (FD) and tshirt (DS) for taking down major qualifiers Friday night! While he’s best known for his mass multi-entry prowess, The Panda needed just two entries to take down the DK Championship Qualifier. AP4Pres and tshirt both navigated through HUGE fields in the FanDuel & DraftStreet qualifiers to secure their shot at a million in late August/early September… on to the tournament recaps!
FanDuel $10 DFBC Qualifier

AP4Pres (94th TPOY, 146th overall) was able to beat out the field of over 4,000 entries to claim his chance at becoming a DFS millionaire in this year’s DFBC. It goes without saying that you need to be just about perfect to take down the Q with the lowest entry-fee, and he came pretty damn close. With Felix Hernandez (31.9% owned) struggling once again with the lowly Astros lineup, he set himself up beautifully with Wily Perlata’s 19 FP’s. The fact that Peralta was owned by just 2.9% of the field really helped to set him apart. His hitter’s weren’t too shabby either; Dustin Pedroia, Charlie Blackmon and Mike Zunino all homered and easily exceeded value. Calijeter (ataris80 on RG, 393rd overall) finished just two points behind first place, with AP’s decision to roll with Wily Peralta being the big difference. Calijeter relied a little heavier on his hitters with Strasburg scoring just 11 points, but was able to get double-digit points from Desmond Jennings, Michael Brantley and Carlos Santana. Mhesters, wildcatz97, jjarrad and jjurado (JacobJurado on RG) also finished in the top ten. Here’s last night’s winning lineup:

FanDuel $100K Monster

Punisher09 (a15t80h on RG, 104th on the TPOY leaderboard) finished 2nd, which earned him a cool $10K. He received more then enough from his Indians stack (Salazar, Gomes, Swisher, Santana) and also got a few extra base hits/RBI’s from Nelson Cruz. Dsmiller61 (58th TPOY, 223rd overall) finished in 4th place with a successful Rays mini-stack and a couple of three-hit games from Andrew McCutchen and Neil Walker… cmdrunners (cchscmd on RG), aboynamedsuh and msufan_08 finished in the back end of the top ten to earn at least $1,000.
DraftKings Fantasy Baseball Championship Qualifier

Congratulations to naapstermaan (16th TPOY, 40th overall) on earning himself a trip to Atlantis to compete for a check with a whole lot of commas and zeros. His Indians stack treated him well, but he really didn’t have a weak spot anywhere in his lineup. Both of his pitchers scored at least 20 FP’s and although he didn’t spend much on his hitters, every one of them scored in the double-digits. Unclerico778 (359th on the MLB Grinder leaderboard) was Naap’s closest competitor in 2nd place with an Indians stack of his own, and also picked up 20+ FP’s from both of his Rays (Rodriguez and Jennings). Msiler10, mafiadon1964, headchopper, Tommyg1979, Ajml45, jess767 and PrimeTime420 also finished in the top ten. RotoGrinders members accounted for the 1 through 9 spots in this one… here’s Naap’s winning lineup:

DraftKings $100K Perfect Game

Msiler10 (67th on the TPOY leaderboard) was our highest finisher in the Perfect Game, and he was able to turn one of his three entries into $1,500 (he also cashed with one of his other entries). Headchopper (3rd TPOY, 17th overall, 25th MLB) was our only other member in the top ten.
DraftStreet DSBC $11 Qualifier

The only player in the field to clear 100 points, tshirt (55th overall) took down Friday night’s DSBC qualifier, which consisted of over 2700 entries. Ubaldo Jimenez looked like he was back in his prime last night, striking out 10 and picking up the win in Minnesota. For just over $13K, his 18.33 FP’s were huge considering his other two pitchers didn’t have plus performances. He stacked both the Rockies and Indians with all but one of his hitter spots, with the last one going to Neil Walker (3 hits, 3 runs for under $6K). Knickgilman (468th on the TPOY leaderboard) finished in 2nd place sandwiched between two tshirt entries, thanks to big games from Jimenez and Walker in addition to Starling Marte and Carlos Santana. MizzouLew and eastern2 (easternmh on RG) also finished towards the top of the leaderboard. Here’s the only entry from last night’s Q to reach triple digits:
