Pitcher Grind Down
- Garrett Richards – Richards has pitched respectfully since the All-Star break, posting a 5-3 and a 3.43 ERA since the All-Star break. It’s probably best to avoid him today though as the Rangers will be in “all hands on deck” mode. Pitcher Rating: 4 out of 10
- Derek Holland – Holland was dominant in his last start and will look to keep it going today in order to keep the Rangers playoff hopes alive. He’s struggled versus the Angels this season but they’re just going through the motions at this point. Pitcher Rating: 7 out of 10
Batter Grind Down
Ian Kinsler is heating up down the stretch but has an eight game hitting streak snapped last night.
Lefties have had much more success than right handed batter have versus Richards this season and are hitting .282 off of him.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Chris Archer – The 24 year old has been a pleasant surprise for the Rays this season and sports a fantastic 3.21 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He’s had few problems with the Blue Jays lineup in either of their prior two meetings and will be motivated to secure the Rays a playoff spot. Pitcher Rating: 6 out of 10
- J.A. Happ – Happ has been decent (by his standards) lately, but has been knocked around by the Rays this season and is not a reliable fantasy option. Pitcher Rating: 2 out of 10
Batter Grind Down
Avoid all Toronto Right handed batters as Chris Archer is has held them to an abysmal .165 batting average.
Happ sports a case of the “reverse splits” as lefties are hitting .309 off of him this year.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jimmy Nelson – I’ve never watch Nelson pitch, but his AAA numbers suggest that he has decent stuff. He fanned more than a batter an inning for Nashville but also appears to have some serious control issues. He’s nothing more than a GPP flier today. Pitcher Rating: 3 out of 10
- Aaron Harang – Even in the most advantageous matchups I simply can’t recommend Harang. Pass. Pitcher Rating: 3 out of 10
Batter Grind Down
Aramis Ramirez is 21 for 63 with five career homeruns off of the Harangatang.
Daniel Murphy enters today’s games on a nine game hitting streak.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Andy Pettitte – This will be the last start of his 18 year career and he gets a nice parting gift with a favorable matchup versus the Astros. He’s been terrific since the all-star break and has pitched very well away from Yankee Stadium this season. The Astros roughed him up in their only other meeting this season, but something tells me that Pettitte is going to go out with a bang. Pitcher Rating: 8 out of 10
- Paul Clemens – Clemens versus Pettite used to be a Marquis matchup, but unfortunately Paul Clemens doesn’t have the same pedigree as Roger did. He owns a 5.69 ERA on the year and is not a relevant fantasy option. Pitcher Rating: 1 out of 10
Batter Grind Down
Chris Carter is looking for his first 30 homerun season, but may struggle to get there since he’s hitting just .165 at home in 2013.
Robinson Cano said he’s seeking a $305 million contract….. if you plans on getting that kind of dough, then he better take full advantage of matchups against pitchers like Paul Clemens.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Eric Stults – Stultz has been decent for the Padres this year, but has struggled down the stretch and has not had success away from Petco Park. The Giants have several players who feast on left-handed pitching, so you’d be better off looking elsewhere. Pitcher Rating: 4 out of 10
- Yusmeiro Petit – Petit has been sensational; posting a 4-0 record with a 2.84 ERA and more than a strikeout per inning in 2013. However, San Diego was one of the few teams to rough him up and they tend to me a tough team to pitch against. Pitcher Rating: 6 out of 10
Batter Grind Down
Righties are hitting .303 off of Stultz this season.
Buster Posey owns a career OPS of 1.006 versus lefties and is 7 for 15 off of Stultz
