MLB Daily Grind Down: Wednesday, June 26th
The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries.
The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.5
- Favored Team – TOR -107
Pitcher Grind Down
TB – Roberto Hernandez had what was starting to look like a comeback season, but his numbers have quickly fallen and he now owns a 5.14 ERA and a 1.376 WHIP. He has given up an average of 4 earned runs in his last 4 starts and hasn’t been very relevant fantasy wise. Tough matchup against Toronto. Avoid
TOR – R.A. Dickey is your risky play of the day if you like to gamble. A different Dickey shows up every single start and there has been no rhyme or reason as to why he has been so up and down. Inconsistent pitchers aren’t my favorite, but he is dirt cheap if you want to take a shot in a GPP. In Play
Batter Grind Down
TB – The Rays are really playing some good ball right now and if the bad Dickey shows up, the Rays should score a lot of runs. I like how cheap the youngster Wil Myers, he is a solid value play. I also think that Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist should keep up their solid play.
TOR – When you have a solid offense like the Rays, it can be hard to pinpoint which of them will have good games. But Hernandez has been bad lately, so I think all Rays are in play. Jose Bautista probably gives you the best upside per salary dollar.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.0
- Favored Team – MIN -110
Pitcher Grind Down
MIA – Tom Koehler hasn’t been terrible in his second season, but he hasn’t exactly been a stud either. He owns a 4.65 ERA and a 1.183 WHIP on the season and has a very low strikeout rate. For my money, there are better options. Avoid
MIN – Scott Diamond has been better on the road than he has at home, but his road numbers aren’t very good either. He has only had one good start in his last five and can be avoided even though he is playing the Marlins. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
MIA – Giancarlo Stanton is always in play against lefties and should have a great chance of succeeding today against the below average lefty in Diamond. I also like the bats of Marcell Ozuna and Logan Morrison.
MIN – Tom Koehler has been pretty average and doesn’t strike out a lot of batters so it could be worth it to take a guy like Josh Willingham since you won’t have to worry about the K’s.

CIN vs R | CIN BvP | OAK vs R | OAK BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – OAK -125
Pitcher Grind Down
OAK – A.J. Griffin has had a bit of a down season after a nice rookie campaign, but he is still a solid young pitcher that is averaging 7 K’s per 9 innings. I don’t love the matchup against Cincy, but Vegas doesn’t seem to concerned with that low over/under. Decent upside. In Play
CIN – Homer Bailey has had a great season posting a 3.75 ERA and a 1.140 WHIP. The problem is that he faces an Oakland offense that is clicking on all cylinders right now. Tough matchup and a bit overpriced. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
OAK – Like I always say, it is so tough to predict which A’s are going to have good games, but if I have to pick I would go with John Jaso and Yoenis Cespedes.
CIN – I think this will be a much lower scoring game than it was last night. Look for Griffin to pitch well, there are better options.

PIT vs R | PIT BvP | SEA vs R | SEA BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 6.5
- Favored Team – SEA -160
Pitcher Grind Down
PIT – The Pirates jumped all over the Mariners last night, but I expect the exact opposite to happen tonight. Felix Hernandez is one of the best pitchers in the game and he will prove it once again tonight. Felix has a 2.71 ERA and is striking out an average of 9 batters per 9 innings. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a complete game. Target
SEA – Unless you are a top ace, I don’t like taking pitchers when they face Felix Hernandez. They just don’t get any run support. Jeanmar Gomez is not an ace. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
PIT – King Felix should dominate this lineup. Avoid
SEA – Nick Franklin, Kendrys Morales, and Kyle Seager are all on my radar tonight. All are good against right hand pitching and should find some success against Gomez.

COL vs R | COL BvP | BOS vs R | BOS BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 10.0
- Favored Team – BOS – 175
Pitcher Grind Down
BOS – John Lackey has had a much better season than most people predicted, especially me. I keep waiting for him to have a few bad starts in a row, but that’s just not happening. The Rockies can certainly put up some runs, but they are short handed and I think Lackey keeps up his solid pitching and picks up the win. In Play
COL – Roy Oswalt is a huge underdog, faces a tough Red Sox team, and is making only his second start of the season. Everything points to him being in big trouble tonight. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
BOS – All of the Sox were in play yesterday and all of the Sox are in play once again tonight against Oswalt. Sure Oswalt had 11 K’s in his first start, but that was against the Nats and they still put up 4 runs against him. Look for the Sox to put up 6+ runs.
COL – Taking batters against Lackey continues to let me down, so I think I am going to learn my lesson and roll with Lackey tonight. Of course, now that I do he will get lit up.
