Covering the Bases: Saturday, April 22

STLCardinals84, one of the best tournament players in the game, is here to cover the bases for the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cards has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Saturday, everyone! It’s hard to believe that we are already almost a full month into the 2023 MLB season. I never thought I would say this, but I actually think the pace of the games is a bit TOO fast. We are seeing some games end in the 2 hour, 15 minute range, and that’s just crazy to see. I definitely prefer this over a four hour game, but maybe the happy middle ground is an extra five seconds on the pitch clock in the long run. We shall see.
As for the DFS slate today, we have a more normal split slate Saturday on our hands. There are six day games on the 1 PM slate (seven on FD with the inclusion of Game 1 of the MIA/CLE double-header), and there are seven games on the main 7 PM evening slate. Let’s get to some of my favorite MLB DFS picks for today!

The Top Options
(NOTE – For now, all statistical references for pitchers are for 2022 full season data given that we still only have three starts for 2023 for most of them. I will switch to 2023 data next weekend).
Gerrit Cole vs. Blue Jays
Shane McClanahan vs. White Sox
Dylan Cease vs. Rays
Shane Bieber vs. Marlins (FD Only)
These are the four “ace” level pitchers we have going this afternoon, but note that Bieber is only available on the FD slate. Here’s a peek at their 2022 full year data:
