Covering The Bases: MLB DFS Picks for Sunday, June 2nd

Long-time grinder, STLCardinals84, is here to cover the bases for the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cards has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his favorite MLB DFS picks.
Happy Sunday, Grinders! We have the usual large Sunday slate on tap, and both FanDuel and DraftKings are offering the same games on their slates today, with each having an eleven-game offering that starts at 1:05 PM Eastern. There also doesn’t seem to be much that we need to worry about today in terms of the weather, so it looks to be a fantastic Sunday.
Let’s dig in and see what this Sunday docket has to offer for MLB DFS picks!
Sunday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

There is not a lot of fun stuff on the mound today despite the fact that we have an eleven-game slate. However, there are a couple of aces that we have to consider before messing around with the middle tier.
TOP TIER PITCHING – A PAIR OF ACES
Freddy Peralta vs. White Sox
Cole Ragans vs. Padres
I know that Chris Sale let everyone down as a mega chalky option yesterday. I hope I don’t need to say this to everyone, but the performance from Chris Sale yesterday has absolutely zero bearing on how a different pitcher (Freddy Peralta) will perform against a different bad team (the White Sox) one day later. Please do not let the fact that Chris Sale was awful impact your decision on how you handle Freddy Peralta. It’s a different day, a different slate, and a different set of circumstances.
As for Peralta, his numbers have been fantastic this year, with strong metrics across the board that include a 3.61 ERA, a 3.12 xFIP, and a 32.5% strikeout rate. He would likely be able to hold the White Sox in check even without his “A” stuff, and the upside is immense here. The only real concern is his occasional hiccup with command, but the White Sox are not a patient offense and are unlikely to draw a ton of walks. All signs point to Peralta as today’s ace.
Cole Ragans has been strong in his own right with a 3.36 ERA, a 2.91 xFIP, and a 29.7% strikeout rate. Outside of a slightly lower strikeout rate, he’s basically been the same pitcher as Peralta. The issue with Ragans is that he has a much more difficult matchup against the Padres. Peralta is the clear choice here in terms of projections, but I will say that I don’t hate Ragans as a GPP pivot, especially if Peralta ends up being owned at a significantly higher clip. Both pitchers have intriguing upside potential (and I wouldn’t hate a GPP build that uses both of them on DK if you punt with the bats).
SECONDARY TIER PITCHING
