Happy Sunday, MLB Grinders! Happy Father’s Day as well to those of you who are dads. Hopefully we can win some DFS bucks today to celebrate!

At first glance, this is not the most exciting DFS slate. It lacks high-end offense, especially for the 9-game main slate on DraftKings. We have 11 games available on FD, as they have added the PIT/COL and MIN/ARI games to their slate, and that gives us a little more offense over there.

We also have weather concerns to monitor today, with the STL/KCR and TOR/CHC games offering the highest rain chances. I will write the article as if every game plays, but the weather in Chicago looks to be very concerning. I am not planning to target anyone from that game unless the forecast improves. Keep an eye on the MLB weather report as we get closer to lock.

Let’s dig in and see what this Father’s Day Sunday has to offer for MLB DFS picks!

Sunday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Burns of the Reds

TOP TIER PITCHERS

We don’t have much to get excited about with the top tier of pitching today, with a pair of lonely arms at the top. Well, in real life, they probably aren’t lonely… but they are in the context of this DFS slate. As usual, I’ll begin with a quick look at the 2026 data:

Burns – 2.01 ERA, 3.29 xFIP, 29.8% K, 8.2% BB
Cease – 2.71 ERA, 2.53 xFIP, 36.3% K, 10.3% BB

If the weather cooperates in Chicago, we have a great day for pitchers, with cool temperatures and the wind blowing in. Dylan Cease has a ridiculous 36% strikeout rate, and he would be the easy choice as SP1 this afternoon even against a Cubs team that has been hitting the ball better of late. Unfortunately, the current forecast calls for an 80-90% chance of rain all afternoon, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game get postponed before it even starts. Keep an eye on the forecast here, but as of now, I am not expecting this game to be played.

That leaves us with Chase Burns as the only choice up top. His numbers are strong in their own right, with a sparkling 2.01 ERA and 29.8% strikeout rate. However, he is now very expensive for DFS purposes, and a road matchup against the Yankees is never a cakewalk. In fact, the Yankees have a respectable 4.3 implied team total against Burns and company. Burns currently has a .249 opposing BABIP this year, and the advanced numbers do suggest some negative regression. Even without Aaron Judge, the Yankees are still capable of putting up runs, and Burns does not feel like the optimal use of high-end salary today.

If Cease gets removed due to rain, I’ll be going with cheaper options at pitcher this afternoon, and that will allow me to spend more on bats.
