Happy Sunday, everyone, and Happy Mother’s Day to any moms that happen to be reading the article this morning. I would also like to send over a quick thank you to Cheese for covering yesterday as I attended the final track meet of the season for my youngest son.

As for this Mother’s Day, we have 9 games on the main slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. There might be some minor, late weather concerns in Philadelphia and Baltimore, but it seems like we are most likely going to be all systems go this afternoon for the full slate. It’s a bit of a weird one that is definitely tilted toward the hitting side, but it seems to be an underwhelming slate on the surface.

Let’s dig in and see if we can uncover some hidden gems for MLB DFS picks today!

Sunday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on DraftKings and FanDuel

Sanchez of the Phillies

TOP TIER PITCHERS

While this isn’t the most exciting slate we have ever had for pitching, it’s certainly an intriguing one. We have one pitcher in an elite matchup, one veteran with a long track record, and two up-and-coming aces in this tier. As usual, I will begin with a quick look at the 2026 data for these 4 hurlers:

Sanchez – 2.42 ERA, 2.58 xFIP, 28.7% K, 6.7% BB
Soriano – 1.74 ERA, 3.10 xFIP, 29.0% K, 10.2% BB
deGrom – 3.11 ERA, 3.08 xFIP, 31.3% K, 5.3% BB
Williams – 3.28 ERA, 3.24 xFIP, 30.3% K, 10.6% BB

All of these pitchers have had great starts to the season. They all have strikeout rates of 28% and up, they all have swinging-strike rates of 13% or higher, and they all have xFIP marks between 2.50 and 3.25. We need to further look at the matchups to see how that might help break some ties today.

Rockies vs. LHP (for Sanchez) – .295 wOBA (24th), 124 ISO (20th), 6.6% BB (29th), 30.3% K (1st)
Blue Jays vs. RHP (for Soriano) – .317 wOBA (T-18th), .136 ISO (24th), 6.8% BB (29th), 18.0% K (30th)
Cubs vs. RHP (for deGrom) – .338 wOBA (5th), .178 ISO (5th), 11.8% BB (2nd), 19.4% K (28th)
Twins vs. RHP (for Williams) – .317 wOBA (T-18th), .161 ISO (11th), 9.6% BB (16th), 23.5% K (7th)

This helps in separating the top options. Cristopher Sanchez clearly has the best matchup of the group against a Rockies team that strikes out a ton, doesn’t draw walks, and really doesn’t hit against lefties. The splits above also don’t account for the team playing half its games at Coors Field, so the wOBA and ISO splits will only get worse if you isolate their home games out of this. Sanchez has the 2nd-highest swinging-strike rate (behind only deGrom) of these top pitchers in 2026, and he is the clear SP1 choice when you factor in the matchups.

Jose Soriano has been a great story in 2026, but he obviously wasn’t going to maintain the sub-1.00 ERA that he had through the first month of the season. There’s still obvious upside with him, but that ceiling takes a hit today against a Blue Jays team that has the lowest strikeout rate in the league against RHP. The same goes for Jacob deGrom against a hot Cubs offense that ranks in the top 5 in the league in a lot of offensive categories. While I like both of them as upside pitchers, today’s matchups push both Soriano and deGrom down the wish list at their salaries, as I would simply rather take the path of least resistance and use Sanchez against the Rockies.

Perhaps the most intriguing arm in this tier outside of Sanchez is Gavin Williams. The Twins have faded offensively over the past few weeks and are up to the 7th-highest team strikeout rate in baseball against RHP this year. Williams has a live arm with strikeout stuff and a ground-ball lean, and the upside is definitely there. However, I worry about his 10.6% walk rate, and he is due for some negative BABIP regression given that his .231 mark this year is one of the best in the league.

I am going to rank this tier as Sanchez >>> Williams > Soriano > deGrom. They are all somewhat interchangeable once you get past Sanchez, but Sanchez is the clear preferred SP1.
