MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, August 2nd
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Shohei Ohtani
boggslite: Shohei Ohtani
ebeimfohr: Shohei Ohtani
Alex Sonty: Shohei Ohtani
Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Heliot Ramos – While I think there is some chance the Giants end up as the highest-owned offense, and despite the numbers, I am still guessing that Heliot Ramos doesn’t see much ownership outside of full Giants stacks. For whatever reason, he has not garnered a lot of love and doesn’t have the name recognition to boost him up the charts. However, if you take the 2024 numbers at face value, I could make the argument that he’s the top bat on the entire slate. He has 80 PA against lefties, which is not a huge sample size but also enough to mean something. In those 80 PA, he has a cartoonish .441 ISO and .566 wOBA, along with a 29.4% barrel rate, which is higher than any other hitter in the league.
boggslite: Shohei Ohtani – On a slate where the ownership on bats are expected to be more spread out than usual, Ohtani instantly becomes a top target. He’s facing a weak righty in Joey Estes, who has managed to strike out just 12.8% of the left-handed hitters he has faced this season. He does get a bit of park downgrade in Oakland, and the rest of LA’s lineup leaves a lot to be desired, but Ohtani has multi-HR potential in this matchup and should not be overlooked.

ebeimfohr: Matt Olson – Maybe it’s nothing, but Olson seems to finally be coming on in 2024. He has had a brutal season relative to expectations, but he has hit 5 HRs in his last 6 games this past week. He is too cheap for the long-term price we’ve come to expect for a player of his caliber, and he draws a matchup with a shaky young righty in Valente Bellozo, who had his struggles in the minors this year.
Alex Sonty: Aaron Judge – Kevin Gausman isn’t good enough for Judge to get this level of disrespect from the field. When I tell you that Judge is facing a pitcher with a double-digit barrel rate allowed — that dates back to the start of the 2023 season — in Yankee Stadium, the field should be all over it. But we’re seeing sub-10% pOWN% being thrown Judge’s way, despite his whopping 25.8% barrel rate against righties.
