MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Friday, June 5
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Jose Ramirez
ebeimfohr: Brice Turang
boggslite: Brice Turang
Dean78904: Brice Turang
Who is your favorite sneaky stack on the board and why?
CheeseIsGood: Yankees – The slate is kind of wild. I really want to put the Cardinals or Nationals here, but when all is said and done, I think it’s actually the Yankees and Dodgers who are going to qualify as “sneaky.” I don’t really love the Yankees as much as I love that no one is going to play them. Sonny Gray does look kind of like his old self in his last few starts, so maybe he’s just back, but I’m still a little wary of how bad his early-season numbers were. If we take the full-season numbers from Gray against lefties – 19.8% K rate with average batted-ball numbers – then Ben Rice, Trent Grisham, Cody Bellinger, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. all look like great options with all of their power upside. Then, with Spencer Jones, Ryan McMahon, and Austin Wells, we can add in very cheap power. Officially, I prefer the Cardinals, Rockies, and Nationals ahead of the Yankees; it just might end up looking strange how the ownership shakes out tonight.
ebeimfohr: Reds – My take on Kyle Leahy remains from the very start of the season, which is that he’s a fine reliever and a terrible MLB starter. His strikeouts are down to just 18%, and his Statcast xERA is a whopping 6.27. He’s been very lucky, given that he’s allowed one of the highest barrel rates in baseball. You really want to target him with lefties, but the full stack works well, as he’s not immune to righty power and the Cardinals bullpen is very poor outside of the top couple arms.
boggslite: A’s – Peter Lambert continues to outperform his peripheral stats, and regression is likely coming. The A’s have one of the better top halves of the lineups in baseball, and their steep prices may have many looking in a different direction. Houston also has one of the worst bullpens in the league, and if the A’s can get to Lambert early in this game, they have slate-winning upside.
Dean78904: Royals – The sample isn’t huge, but Zebby Matthews has allowed a 1.93 HR/9 this season thanks in part to a big barrel rate and a massive fly-ball lean. The hidden value here is that the Royals are locked in for 9 innings of hitting, they get to face one of the worst bullpens in baseball (27th in SIERA, 30th in ERA, 30th in xFIP), and WeatherEdge is expecting a healthy hitting environment boost. To state the obvious, Bobby Witt Jr., Carter Jensen, Vinnie Pasquantino, and Jac Caglianone are my top targets. Even if I am not stacking, I am always hunting for homers, and the Royals are one of my favorite places to shop for it.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
