Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Cal Raleigh – There are dozens of ways to go here, as the Yankees soak up all the high-end ownership and leave us with a huge pool of elite hitters at little to no ownership. The guy that I think is still somehow underrated in the realm of best hitters in the league is Cal Raleigh. He is tied with Aaron Judge for 3rd in the league in HR, ranks 3rd in ISO, and 4th in barrel %. On the road this season, he carries a .379 ISO and 1.068 OPS. Basically, it’s him, Judge, and Shohei Ohtani, and then everybody else. Tonight, he faces Ryan Gusto, who has shown no ability to get the ball past lefties, allowing a .250 ISO and .396 wOBA. Add in the switch-hitting ability when Houston goes to the bullpen, and Raleigh is my favorite spend-up to be different.

stevietpfl: Corbin Carroll – Any of the Yankees could go here, and like I said above, they’re in a great spot. I think Carroll and the Diamondbacks are an excellent pivot off the Yankees. Carroll has a .374 ISO with a .428 wOBA against RHP. Mikolas has limited power this season but continues to be a below-average strikeout pitcher. Mikolas has a 15.5% whiff rate, which is in the bottom 1% of the majors. He has a .287 wOBA but a .341 xwOBA. His advanced stats continue to say that he’s getting a little lucky. Carroll benefits from a low-strikeout pitcher.

boggslite: Wyatt Langford – If you’re looking outside of the Yankees chalk, consider taking Langford, who has been one of the few bright spots offensively for the Rangers this season. He draws a great matchup against a mediocre righty in Sean Burke and a bad White Sox bullpen.

Dean78904: Jake Burger – Obviously, Burger isn’t my favorite hitter, but he is cheap, faces one of the worst SPs on the board, and it appears he is back to what he was expected to be after being demoted to the minors. This season, including the rough patches, Burger has hit the ball hard, as he is in the 88th percentile for hard-hit% and 84th percentile for barrels. Hitting the ball has been the first hurdle, as Burger has whiffed 30.1% of the time vs. RHPs. Thankfully, Sean Burke struggles to miss bats, as he has a 14.4% K rate vs. righties this season. Additionally, he walks too many dudes, gives up a lot of fly balls, and is backed up by one of the weakest bullpens in baseball. Add it up, and Burger is one of my favorite salary savers on the board.
